You just have to take the world history opinions of a a financial prediction software program as received wisdom.

Which is one of the hallmarks of a quasi-religious cult. Socrates is regarded by followers as [a] god, and 11-years-in-federal-prison-felon Armstrong is its Prophet.

Jim Jones, please pick up the white courtesy phone . . .

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_A._Armstrong

Martin Arthur Armstrong (born November 1, 1949) is an American self-taught[1] economic forecaster and convicted felon who spent 11 years in jail for cheating investors out of $700 million and hiding $15 million in assets from regulators.

CFTC violations
In 1985 Armstrong was found to have violated Commodity Futures Trading Commission regulations by failing to register as a commodity trading advisor, failing to deliver required disclosure documents to clients, and failing to maintain proper records.[3] In 1987 one of Armstrong’s trading entities, Economic Consultants of Princeton Inc., was charged with failing to disclose a commission sharing agreement, and another of his entities, Princeton Economic Consultants Inc, was charged with misrepresenting hypothetical performance results and omitting a required disclaimer in advertisements.[3] The penalties levied banned Armstrong and his companies from trading for twelve months, revoked their registrations, imposed cease-and-desist orders, and levied civil penalties totalling fifty thousand dollars.[3]

Criminal conviction
In 1999, Japanese fraud investigators accused Armstrong of collecting money from Japanese investors, improperly commingling these funds with funds from other investors, and using the fresh money to cover losses he had incurred while trading.[13] United States prosecutors called it a three-billion-dollar Ponzi scheme.[14] Allegedly assisting Armstrong in his scheme was the Republic New York Corporation, which produced false account statements to reassure Armstrong’s investors. In 2001, the bank agreed to pay US$606 million as restitution for its part in the scandal.[14]

Armstrong was indicted in 1999 and ordered by Judge Richard Owen to turn over fifteen million dollars in gold bars and antiquities bought with the fund’s money; the list included bronze helmets and a bust of Julius Caesar.[15][16] Armstrong produced some of the items but claimed the others were not in his possession; this led to several contempt of court charges brought by the SEC and the CFTC, for which he served seven years in jail until he reached a plea bargain with federal prosecutors.[17][18][19] Under the terms of the agreement, Armstrong admitted to deceiving corporate investors and improperly commingling client funds—actions that according to prosecutors resulted in commodities losses of more than seven hundred million dollars—and was sentenced to five years in prison.[20][15]

He was released from federal custody on 2 September 2011 after serving a total of eleven years behind bars.[21][22]

The case against Armstrong was finally closed in 2017, with the distribution of about $80 million to claim holders by the receiver, according to court filings.[23] Armstrong appealed the refusal of the receiver to transport his remaining possessions from storage lockers in New York and Pennsylvania to him in Florida, but the appeal failed in 2019. Concerning his felony conviction, Armstrong is “unrepentant”, according to Bloomberg.[1]

Hidden rare coins cache
In 2014, a day laborer sold a box of 58 rare coins—which he said he had found while clearing out the basement of a house in New Jersey—to a Philadelphia thrift shop for $6,000. Three years later, in 2017, when the thrift shop announced they were to auction the coins—valued at $2.5 million—Armstrong came forward to declare himself to be the rightful owner. He claimed that he had hidden the coins in his mother’s old house to take them “off the books” in anticipation of the public offering of his firm. The thrift shop sued Armstrong, asking the court to declare the thrift shop as rightful owners while Armstrong counter-sued, also seeking ownership. In 2019 the US government found out about the coins and claimed them as part of the treasure hoard Armstrong had refused to hand over in 1999, and for which he had served seven years in jail for contempt. (In addition to rare coins, the treasure hoard—valued at $12.9 million—included 102 gold bars, 699 gold coins, and an ancient bust of Julius Caesar.)[24][25]

Armstrong was deposed and, according to Receiver Alan M. Cohen, Armstrong admitted hiding the coins. However, Armstrong’s attorneys said in a court filing that Armstrong did not make this admission. The auction house now possesses the coins and the US government has filed suit to take possession.[24][25]

We will lose any war because it is more profitable to keep the fighting going on - more money that way. The only hope of defeating China vs. Taiwan, is that the Chinese will have to do amphibious stuff - something they have no experience in.

But why would we defeat the country that makes all our stuff for us???

If China attacks it will be because they have so many agents high up in Taiwan that the island won’t fight back. Once Taiwanese society gets to the point the US is at now, the PRC won’t have to attack. Taiwan will crumble on its own.

Sorry you have a low opinion of Martin, I don’t. I started listening to his forecasts 20 years ago- I did very, very, very well. Sorry you didn’t.

That said, Martin is well known across the world, he has been called upon by Regan, Bush, Volkner, Thatcher, and even Trump. and many sovereign nations to solve their economic woes. His forecasts are LEGENDARY with those in the financial fields.

Discard at your own peril.

This is very true. The last election polls there showed a 55 percent positive attitude with reuniting with China. I know two Taiwan nationals,( one works in banking in Hong Kong) they both have stated if having to choose between China reunification or war, they choose reunification.

Many have thriving businesses with “the mainland”….the Mainland….their words….they have no fear of the Mainland - they are interested in Trade and a living,….don’t get sucked into yet another war by Biden for a nation that doesn’t want it.

Ridiculous. This is as bad as those pro-Ukraine nuts.

The United States lost World War II. Anyone who thinks otherwise is lying to themselves.
Well, it’s hard to argue that nazi intelligence didn’t win at the very least. Paperclip gave us the CIA and deep state, which has acquired complete control of the U.S. and busy establishing a 4th Reich globally.

The stupid is thick on this thread.

This should have hung that McNamara piece of s***. Him and LBJ were made for each other.

After I watch Fog of War a number of years back I was livid at the audacity of that scum.

Crapola...
" They remove Saddam Husein and unleashed ISIS where Saddam kept the religious fanatics in check"
Saddam did NOT keep the religious fanatics in check. In fact, he was cultivating them , upon the advice of his General al Dhouri. Saddam was a Baathist, that is, a socialist, and in his younger years that just meant he was atheistic. That lack of faith in any higher power freed him from any sense of morality and enabled his ruthless rise to power, where he called a meeting and then held a mass slaughter of all of his potential Baath Party rivals. And it only got worse from there. When you don't believe in a higher power it is usually because you worship yourself. And Saddam put himself above everything, while not being above doing anything to enforce his idolatry on everyone else. So, he built childrens' prisons to hold the offspring of dissidents, in order to control them and enforce silence. And from this pool of stolen children the most malleable were recruited to form the Fedeyeen Saddam. Over time, he realized it was to his advantage to quite opposing religious zealotry and harness it. His general al Dhouri was a deodbandi Muslim. It is a peculiar sect that strangely, has an affinity for the Iranian Shiite zealot. who expect a savior to emerge from a well in their version of the end times. So Saddam did as advised to recruit Islamic religious zealots and changed Iraq's flag, adding a religious element to it. And he began construction of the workd's largest mosque, complete with minarettes designed to look like weapons. And he made a big deal of having a Quran written in what was supposedly his own blood as an act of devoutness ( which probably didn't fly well with moderate Muslims who were likely appalled.) And, according to the Harmony Database of regime communications, some of the documents which were translated here at FreeRepublic. In these, his regime reached out to Islamofascist groups in the West, such as in London. They sent emissaries and so on to discuss cooperation and training. He imposed shariah law in Iraq, in order to please these new allies. Doctors were ordered to perform these religious judgements, such as cutting out tongues and forced amputation of limbs. Zarqawi, the future chief or emir of Isis (before his terrorist group renamed itself ISIS) moved his people into Iraq and established cells both in the north to oppose the Kurds on behalf of Saddam Hussein (and these cells included some members of Saddam's intelligence apparatus) and also a cell in Baghdad itself. This cell was largely Egyptian fanatics. One of their early acts in Bagdhad during Saddam's rule was to abduct and behead a nun. These pre-Isis cells were trained in a terrorist camp adjacent to that of al Qaeda's in Afghanistan, and shared the occasional instructor. Saddam assisted by providing emissaries to Afghanistan, offering training in forgery, etc. And, he provided training facilities in Iraq that included an airliner. Zarqawi's people (which grew to include Mullah Krekar's Anwar am Islam) served Saddam by targeting Kurdish leaders in northern Iraq and before the US-led invasion they even targeted and assassinated a US diplomat from USAID in Jordan. Zarqawi's people in Iraq after the invasion became so Qaeda in Iraq, and later ISIL or ISIS. After Saddam's death al Dhouri, his sons, and his Baath Party intelligence followers were free to formalize their already extant relationship with Zarqawi, whichvextended into a safe haven in Syria. The General and his family swore the oath of allegiance to Zarqawi, and Zarqawi formally renamed the group ISIS. When Obama, not the "neocons" chose to prematurely end the war by withdrawing from Iraq, it was this unified mixture of Zarqawi's terrorist group and am Dhouri's people that swarmed out of Syria and recaptured al Dhouri's favorite haunts in a drive to Mosul.
