* Keshondra Turner, 53, was cooking in her soul food truck at 1pm on Tuesday when a man attempted to hold up the business and fire his weapon at her.
* The assailant's gun jammed allowing Turner time to reach for her firearm and shoot several rounds at the criminal.
* The 23-year-old would-be robber was declared dead on the scene and Turner was taken to a local hospital for a panic attack
A Texas grandma with a gun took down an armed robber Tuesday who had attempted to hold up her family-owned soul food truck. The woman, Keshondra Howard Turner, 53, was cooking around 1pm inside the 'Elite Eats and Cold Treats' truck in a Houston parking lot when a 23-year-old man drove up alongside the vehicle. The man asked what was on the menu, but as Turner attempted to show the man, he pulled a handgun on her and the other employee working in the truck.
The would-be assailant got out of his car and demanded cash. Turner quickly shut the food truck's open window, but the man forced it open, stuck his weapon inside the truck and tried to fire. The gun jammed, which was when Turner, who is licensed to carry a handgun, drew her own weapon and shot the man several times. The young man took a few steps back from the truck before collapsing about 50 feet away, which was where authorities found him and pronounced him dead.

Adios MF!
I love a happy ending!
I guess we're just a couple of sentimental slobs.
Guilty!
Awesome. Those are the kind of scum our state governments cherish, they make laws taking away our ability to self defense while simultaneously allowing thugs like this to get out of jail fast…jails are racist…. I’m glad to see there’s sanity in TEXAS.
Absolutely no description of the perp in the story which tells me everything I need to know about description of the perp.
served up fresh and hot!
You don’t need a license to carry in Texas. Idiots writing idiotic things like an idiot.
“Turner quickly shut the food truck’s open window, but the man forced it open, stuck his weapon inside the truck and tried to fire.
The gun jammed, which was when Turner, who is licensed to carry a handgun, drew her own weapon and shot the man several times.”
TBH......she’s unbelievably fortunate she wasn’t killed.......I suspect thug had very little, if any weapon maintenance training leading to the jam.
Medal and a parade, etc.
“Derick Howard, Turner’s son, said it was divine intervention that had saved his mother.”
Was my thought too.
Poor lady, working for a living and this bum comes along...
Lead is on the menu too! Now his parents can plant him in the ground for their reward for raising a bandit.
Why would you shoot a dead robber?
I think a police spokesman in a local news
video said Hispanic (granny black)
“A Hispanic male approaches the truck”
Just as he was turning his life around...
It actually wasn’t. Poorly maintained handguns with a history of jamming will do that.
As for the shooter, she kept her head and fired center mass.
Victory. Problem is, she’ll need a bunch of therapy to get over that she took a life.
“What happens after?”
“What happens after we do it?”
“Then you live with it.”
Beat me to it.
It seems like there’s a lot of folks who don’t clean their tools very often if at all. My grandson-in-law an active duty Marine, cleans his guns after 1,000 or more rounds. I cannot do that, I tried.
I went to the range with him recently to try out a new can I finally was able to pickup after an 8 month wait. We probably sent a couple of hundred rounds thru several guns. I came home, wiped off the outsides and stuck them into my safe.
I slept like crap and the next day all I could think about were my dirty rifles in my safe. Needless to say, as soon as I got home, I pulled them out and gave the a proper cleaning.
Dirty guns may or may not work when needed, why take the chance and all of my guns are expensive to replace and everyone of them have a special memory or two attached, I’m not going to let my laziness ruin them.
