* Keshondra Turner, 53, was cooking in her soul food truck at 1pm on Tuesday when a man attempted to hold up the business and fire his weapon at her.
* The assailant's gun jammed allowing Turner time to reach for her firearm and shoot several rounds at the criminal.
* The 23-year-old would-be robber was declared dead on the scene and Turner was taken to a local hospital for a panic attack
A Texas grandma with a gun took down an armed robber Tuesday who had attempted to hold up her family-owned soul food truck. The woman, Keshondra Howard Turner, 53, was cooking around 1pm inside the 'Elite Eats and Cold Treats' truck in a Houston parking lot when a 23-year-old man drove up alongside the vehicle. The man asked what was on the menu, but as Turner attempted to show the man, he pulled a handgun on her and the other employee working in the truck.
The would-be assailant got out of his car and demanded cash. Turner quickly shut the food truck's open window, but the man forced it open, stuck his weapon inside the truck and tried to fire. The gun jammed, which was when Turner, who is licensed to carry a handgun, drew her own weapon and shot the man several times. The young man took a few steps back from the truck before collapsing about 50 feet away, which was where authorities found him and pronounced him dead.

I knew who it WASN’T 😏
Prayers for Mrs. Turners recovery. Regardless of her right to protect herself it can wreak the nerves to be put in such a situation.
LOL. I am in the process of cleaning all my weapons whether they need it or not. And you know what, even the ones I haven't shot for years and cleaned when last used, still needed to be cleaned. On a side note, I didn't realize how many I had.
I hope the local prosecutor, unlike so many others, understands her right to self-defense.
Nice.
Yep I’m guilty of that too.
Took my AR to the range a while back after not cleaning it in quite some time.....sure enough it jammed after less than 5 rounds. Unfortunately I didn’t have any cleaning or lub products with me. Only way it would cycle is if I used the recharge handle after every shot.....what a royal PITA.
Got it home broke it down and it was filthy. I use cheap ammo for plinking so I shoulda known better.
Learned my lesson though. I’ll more than likely clean it after every range trip.
Please correct the title to read Gun toting granny instead of Gunny toting granny. My mistake...
Good! There needs to be more people who defend themselves and in the process rid the world of useless scum.
No, but you can get a license to carry so you can then do so in States that offer reciprocity, but lack Constitutional carry.
And tip like a rich person!!
So glad you are out there to tell me what to think./sarc

It’s Houston! Being close to a police station doesn’t guarantee ANYTHING!!
I was building-out a shoe store on the east side of Houston (4th ward). There was a police substation in the shopping center. One of my workers and closest friends is a retired Michigan Deputy Sheriff, so he went over to introduce himself and get a lay of the land.
The cops told him if he can pull his vehicle into the storage areas in the back of our storefront - DO IT!! They put all cop cars in the bays on the backside, except one. And that one they park on the sidewalk, directly in front of the substation!! If they leave them out in the parking lot...they get broken into. This was 2004!!
