A Disney film about Ruby Bridges is causing a stir at one Pinellas County school and is now under review after a parent complained. Because of it, North Shore Elementary has temporarily pulled the film, sparking outrage among some education advocates...
...days after the viewing, the district says one of the parents who opted out filed a formal objection complaining the movie isn't appropriate for second-graders.
...The decision to pull the film is temporary and is pending a review to decide whether the school will be able to show the film next year.
No word yet on when a final decision could be made.

I can tell you the local Miami media is VERY BIASED against the parents. Already saw a report on Thursday morning bashing the concerns of parents.
This will be standard operating procedure for the leftist media in Florida. They will misrepresent EVERY school complaint they think will help their sick perverted agenda.

Bridges was the subject of the Normal Rockwell Painting The Problem We All Live With Oil on canvas, January 14, 1964 centerfold of Look magazine
Never heard if this movie, had to look it up.
Is it rated PG?
Why is this being shown to SECOND GRADERS??
Why is this being shown to SECOND GRADERS??
Brainwashing...works best when young.
Local Miami media has tried to tie this in with sexual education. Pathetic.
Local Miami media is running interviews with the Ruby Bridge movie screen writer...this woman bashes Ron DeSantis so she can do the bidding of the media.
I remember that photograph. A very brave 6-year-old girl and family, as was the teacher who taught her and the brave 5-year-old white girl and her family who broke the boycott. It’s history worth noting, just not sure about second-graders being a good target audience for anything beyond the basics. It would depend on how the movie tells the story. Why not let the parents see it first?
Teachers are garbage people
Most of these movies have an agenda. It isn’t simply to say that blacks in this case, had a hard time in the old days.
It is to say that AmErica is evil and bad from the start, and still is. (Actually it is pretty bad now, but not for those reasons so much.)
Otherwise, yes, let people be aware, and also reconsider showing such divisive stuff to young children. Let them be kids first, develop their own view of how “race relations” are, and THEN see a retrospective. As a parent of a boy in Catholic school, I can tell you I didn’t like all the pushing of “Diversity” in our lower grades. That and “environment” were about ever-present in school. I always thought why are they being so self-conscious? About something that the kids never bring up themselves?
I misread it and thought the movie was Ruby Ridges
It’s apparently a TV movie that has been around since 1998. I guess I don’t see the issue here. It’s not CRT. When people take actions like this they play into the slander that liberals put out there that conservatives don’t want their children to learn about racism.
Exactly.
Exactly.
TV-PG.
FWIW my father took me to see the movie Patton when it came out and I was in the 3rd grade.
I remember my dad telling me beforehand that I might hear some "bad" language and depictions of war. Most of the "bad language" I'd heard my dad use at home and worse. :)
But my dad thought it important I learn about the history. I was not traumatized.
The parent thought the movie would be better for older kids. I agree with anyone who says the girl’s story needs to be told.
You had a dad who cared and taught. I trust a dad more than a union teacher.
Are these the same teachers that locked all kids out of schools in 2020 and 2021 for their own safety.
