OK, Zoomers!
Most Americans view TikTok as a national security threat and believe the US should ban the Chinese social media app — unless they are younger than 30 years old.
A CBS News/YouGov poll in March found just 39% of Gen Z US adults aware of TikTok between the ages of 18 and 29 are in support of an outright ban.
Eighty-three percent of adults over the age of 65 who know about TikTok want to ban the app, along with 65% of adults between 45 and 64 years old and 55% of adults between 30 and 44 years old.
Overall, 61% of US adults favor a ban, and 39% oppose one.

The bill to ban TikTok is absolutely terrifying. It gives the government the ability to go after anyone they deem as a national security risk at which point they can access everything from their computer to video games to their ring light.
This is a Patriot Act for the internet.
(Glen Greenwald says the same)
Read the bill and decide for yourself
Why am I not surprised?!
Dang right!
Patriot act for the Internet.
We know how Patriot act worked out for us, am I right?
Because the Government and Congress can make a bill that doesn’t contain poison in it for freedom... really.
Answer: No
This isn't about America or China. It is about the progressive, woke Facebook and Google maintaining its power over the people.
My employer has had 2 different FBI agents in to do presentations on cyber security. Both said the same thing about TikTok - It’s definitely Chinese spyware, you sign away the rights to all of your data when you click “agree” on terms & conditions, and it has access to listen in to surrounding sounds even if turned off. They both recommended to delete it.
And yet, the younger people that heard this just shrugged and kept on using it.
There’s nothing redeeming about Tic Tock but if you give the government the power to cancel anything on the grounds of ‘national security” they then control the internet and all dissent.
I would agree on getting rid of TikTock.
I think the current Bill being advanced to do that is horrendous overreach, granting government vast powers and levying insane penalties.
Does Tik Tok suppress conservative speech like Facebook and Google?
Answer: Of course it does.
Yes, a massive overreach. But opposing this bill is a different question from whether TikTok ought to be banned.
I can’t believe it has taken this long for the world to catch up to trump on this
Forget everything they tell us. They don’t want to ban TikTok for national security. They don’t want to ban TikTok because of the content being inappropriate. They don’t want to ban Tik Tok because they abuse your personal information. And since when does Washington DC give a tinkers damn about Communist China?
They want to ban it for one, and exactly one reason. It’s a recently created company that exploded in popularity, and skyrocketed right past long in the tooth Instagram in numbers. Big tech, and Zuckerberg, pour money on DC politicians. They are using their bought and paid for congressman to eliminate a tough competitor.
Think about it, abuse of personal data? Hello, Google, Facebook, Apple? DC doesn’t care about that in the slightest. Rotten continent? Instagram, Facebook, Google? Any of those ring a bell? The sea couldn’t care less. This is big tech taking down a competitor through their fascist arrangement with the government. And like a bunch of Indians waving blankets, they are stampeding America into a hate Tik Tok jihad. I’m no particular fan of TikTok and don’t have it. But it’s no worse than any of the products put out by the American companies.
The FBI said it was Chinese spyware. The FBI? Are we talking about that FBI? That’s immense it even more for me that TikTok is being targeted for some other reason
I’m confused. Tic Tok videos appear at the top of my Facebook feed when I open up Facebook. They’re nice little videos. If Zuckerberg is trying to knock out a competitor, why give that competitor space on Meta?
So if they ban TikTok that will be the end of 30 second videos posted by anyone who cares to post one?
Oh, wait, Instagram.
Bingo!
I am in favor of banning lots of stuff. Have felt that way long before I turned 30.
Wow. Even a majority of the ‘lennials?
Then again, 82% of stats are made up. 😜
