In fact, this stuff was NEVER coming back to the USA.
The Pentagon, and especially the MIC treats it all as disposable, especially bulky things like trucks, humvees, even helicopters.
Think of it as driving a really long-way to have a picnic that someone else is paying for. When the fun is over, you don’t want to pack up all those cups, plates, opened bags of chips and hot dog rolls to bring home. You’ll just leave it for raccoons and bears, even though you shouldn’t.
If they need more, they’ll just put it in next year’s budget. Its how Fed.gov works.
NO ONE in Washington DC says “No” to the Military Industrial Complex.

So far, the military equipment has caused more casualties among the Taliban themselves than among any of their many opponents.

Most of this stuff had been sold to the Afghan government and the aviation assets were older configurations that had been stripped of any avionics that were sensitive.
Still wish we had destroyed as much of it as possible.

Trump’s orders were to retrieve everything. May not have meant shipped back to America, but removed from Taliban control, to Europe or maybe India or whatever. Since he was out of office when this abortion happened, his orders didn’t matter.
