There will be no Ukrainian counter-offensive until Kyiv’s Western “partners” send more weapons and ammunition, President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned.

In comments to Japanese media quoted by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), President Zelensky insisted: “We can’t start yet, we can’t send our brave soldiers to the front line without tanks, artillery and long-range rockets.”

“If you have the political will, you can find a way to help us. We are at war and can’t wait,” he added, emphasising that Ukrainian forces are also “waiting for ammunition to arrive from our partners.”

Zelensky’s comment shows he’s already decided whose fault it will be when they do lose.

We can be supportive and hopeful that Ukraine would win against Russia, but after all the money and weapons we’ve sent Zelensky saying he’s waiting on us to be able to defend himself is some kind of short-lived appreciation.

Granted I’m no expert in military strategy, if you don’t have the weapons to go on an offensive, then pull back and concentrate your defenses.

The cannon fodder left in Bakhmut basically has no hope of stopping the Russians, who are probably content at this point to pound them until they are all killed, however long that takes.

I still think a better strategy would be to negotiate an end to the war, get the best deal you can get, which can only get worse the longer Russia pounds them, fall back and engage in a guerilla war of sabotage against occupying Russian forces, attempt to make the life of Russians miserable and bleed them from a thousand cuts.

But the pols and the media keep insisting they are winning? And they insist masks work. And they insist climate change will end the world by 1998. And they insist the economy is great. and thy insist that Biden is brilliant. and they insist that troubled youngsters who transition and take potent drugs are getting healthier, not more mentally problematic.
