IRS visited Twitter Files journalist Matt Taibbi’s home same day as congressional testimony

An IRS agent stopped by the home of Twitter Files journalist Matt Taibbi the same day of his congressional testimony on the weaponization of the government, according to House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, who’s demanding an explanation over the oddly timed visit.

Jordan sent a letter to IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel and the Department of Treasury on Monday in hopes of getting to the bottom of why the federal agent appeared at Taibbi’s New Jersey home on March 9 and left a note, according to an editorial in The Wall Street Journal that cited the letter.

The note reportedly instructed Taibbi to call the IRS four days later.

When he did, an agent told him his 2018 and 2021 tax returns had both been rejected due to identity theft concerns.

Taibbi has been deeply involved in researching and reporting the Twitter Files — based off a trove of internal documents at the social media giant meant to expose unfair bias in the company’s past content moderation and the social media giant’s previous contact with government officials.

Now that he is being harassed by the IRS, we can say Taibbi has completed his journey from leftist to conservative.

They certainly send letters in the normal course of auditing and chasing down money owed. I don’t know why a single agent would go to his home looking for him without prior contact. This strikes me as not normal.

I don’t trust any part of the govt, but how do we know they didn’t send letters?

But the Biden gang is not looking at the stolen SS numbers used by the hordes of invaders crossing the southern border.

It's witness intimidation and it's a crime. The IRS agents and their boss who ordered their intimidation need to stand trial and go to prison.

Ironic how when leftist journalists like Taibbi (who have won awards for exposing ugly, truthful stories) are branded MAGA Republicans when they expose ugly, truthful stories about the left.

Seems like he and Jimmy Dore are slowly getting red-pilled.

A simple, flat rate consumption tax on new products and services, collected by the States and sent to the Treasury is the solution

That idea has two fatal flaws. First, since you included services that means that people who are not employees, but provide services, like plumbers, landscapers, free lance web designers, and thousands of other jobs will still be paying income tax. Each time they do a job the state needs to collect their share, so for those people they are in the same situation under your consumption tax as they are now. They have to report and pay an income tax.

They will face more "weaponized" tax bureaucracy than anyone does today.

The second fatal flaw is that any flat consumption tax has to have a high rate. It wont be 1% or 3%, but more like 20%. That means that everyone will want to evade the tax by buying and selling goods and services for cash, and without any paperwork documenting the transaction. The only way that the government will be able to make the tax work will be to effectively ban the use of cash. Every transaction you make will have to be tracked, documented, and shared with the government agent looking in to whether or not you paid the consumption tax to the guy who mowed your lawn, or the person who sold you the used wheelbarrow on craigslist.

I got kicked off Junior Achievement for telling my group of 8th Graders (getting a lecture on credit counseling) who asked “what can you do to clear up your credit”

I joked: “do what 15 million illegals do, just make up a nine digit number without many zeros and start over.”

Some brat went home and told his Woke daddy and that was the ballgame.

Thanks for the school anecdote.
I was the parent of an 8th grader when the education bureaucrats decided that they knew better than the old folks. They decided to change the definitions of geometric figures. A rhombus no longer a special case of a parallelogram, and a rectangle was no longer a special case of a trapezoid, i.e. a trapezoid has only one pair of parallel sides. I explained to the teacher that if you used the latter definition in a computer program for the trapezoidal approximation method for the area under a curve, it would not work because some of the figures formed by connecting 2 points on the curve would be rectangles. I am not sure she understood, but anyway she would get in trouble for not using the “official” definition.

Just think what they can do with another 87,000 armed agents.
We can have intimidation like never seen before, in America.

No Big Deal!
Our communist masters know that the pathetically servile and indolent Aamerican people will just continue to roll over and spread their collective cheeks...
