Side doors are usually "push through" to help kids change classes quickly, but they only push out, not in in my experience. IOW the doors would have to have propped open or the shooter entered during a class change when kids were going in/out. Hard to believe he entered with that arsenal without being stopped immediately or as soon as the guns were noticed.
