When DeSantis called Putin “a War Criminal” he lost me.
Our interest, the world’s interest, the interests of the Russians and the Ukrainians is that the war be ended. And that will require compromise and negotiation. Insulting the leader of one of the combatants, and accusing hime of horrible crimes is not how you get that done. This is especially true when that leader sees his country being encircled, and is nuclear armed.
For an example of a wise peace promoting policy look to Saudi Arabia. For many decades they have offered comfortable asylum to any head of state who wishes it. Idi Amin, the Kenyan tyrant, was a recipient.
The only stipuation is that the asylum recipient must 1) obey all Saudi Laws, and 2) live a compketely incognito existence. Abdullah, the Saudi King 15 years ago was once asked if Hitler would have been given asylum, He said yes. He laughed for a sceond, saying he would inevitably call him a Hitler lover. Then he pointed out that WWII might have been shortened, and hundreds of thousands of lives saved if Hitler had understood in late 1944 that there was a way he could save his own life.
Trump made it clear there was no quid pro quo. DeSantis is just snubbing him
The question is, which candidate is in the Bush camp. It’s not Trump
The other question is, why do people want a bush in the White House.
