A bit of poking around reveals that Tesla cars, at least, don't HAVE a transmission
that was one of the selling points for EVs ... no moving parts, so no repair costs for motor, transmission, cooling system, gas pump, etc... electric motors just get swapped out

Apparently I missed all those great selling points! I could not get my mind off the very high price for new EVs (even w/ givernment subsidies) that had limited driving range, and eventually could cost a fortune when the batteries ultimately die.
