Medicare/medicaid and Social Security are paid by employers.I know I and my employees have paid thousands to all three for decades now. The govt. should stay out of those funds! No reason for them to be raiding them.

Medicare and SS are not sound actuarially. They are unsustainable unless you raise taxes or reduce benefits or some combination of both.

The federal government is not raiding either one. When the revenue comes into the Treasury from SS and Medicare taxes, they are converted into non-market, interest bearing T-Bills backed by the full faith and credit of the USG and deposited into the Trust Funds, which pay out benefits. Benefits have outpaced revenue for SS since 2010 and Medicare since 2008. The trust funds for SS will be exhausted in 2034 for SS and 2028 for Medicare. By law, this will mandate a cut in benefits not to exceed revenue.

So true. To me people shouldn’t be able to graduate high school without understanding that these programs are not slush funds for the pols and also that are not a gift of the government..
