Yes— because these were their classmates at West Point, and they, unlike these socialist/Commie a@@es, understood that they were still Americans and to bind up old wounds, and they cared not one whit (except the Reconstruction crook officers who occupied States and ripped them off . They had to get rid of a few of them. Gen. Longstreet commanded the New Orleans militia which put down the race riot there- and suffered the rest of his life for being “Grant’s man”.)
Just as the monument Silent Sam on the campus of Univ. NC Chapel Hill was dedicated to ALL WBTS veterans, Union or CSA who were alumni of UNC. The whackos that came to tear down the statue there since 1901— were supported by Commie professors who want to re-write woke history.
Incidentally, and probably most here at FR do not know this. In the crowd of statue destroyers there that night...was Bradley (Chelsea) Manning the tranny- who insists on the VA providing “its” surgery and hormones to become a female! What was “chelsea” the traitor doing there— and what possible representation of politics of the DNC being made.An absolute freak whom Obamaumao the First pardoned for giving massive military data to Julian Assange. Cannot fathom this to this day— a real strutting queer.
Why not FORT PATTON, for the general who created the US Tank Corps located eventually at Fort Hood?
Why a “latino” just for the sake of it. Not an American, even though he was... but emphasize the “latino”?
Just as well have called it Fort Pancho Villa, instead of Pershing.
This naming group has to be filled with military misanthropes to true American gallantry. Virtue signalling with the prejudice of Presentism (as our historians have pointed out is a huge flaw in any historical discourse or claim), so, if a current military officer can get another star (like good behaviour in the cafeteria cleanup crew).
And they wonder why so many potential recruits are telling the MIC to go (pl)uck a duck...
screw these evil doers.
well hopefully when trump gets elected again he’ll put them all back.
That’s where I was born.
Not sure which Republican Party you’re talking about. Christians In Wisconsin and Iowa started the Republican Party as a backlash to Whigs for going along with the Political Party of Slavery: the Democrats. Republicanism caught on because of the Country’s prevailing Christian Ethos. Do I agree with everything the Republicans did in the war? Absolutely not!
Will the hundreds of thousands of soldiers interred in Arlington, Robert E. Lee’s old farm, be reinterred elsewhere? Will those grounds be re-purposed as a shopping mall?
That’s the sanitized version of Republican Party history that people love to believe. A pleasant fantasy. It leaves out the major role of the ‘48er German radicals, failed revolutionaries, who were anything but part of the American Christian ethos. They were comrades of Karl Marx, which is why he was a featured writer for Horace Greeley’s Whig/GOP newspaper for a dozen years. Marx didn’t emigrate to the US but his pals did and Lincoln’s administration and the Union Army was full of them.
You can find American Communist writers from the early 1900s complaining about how the Republican Party got away from them after they helped create it. I don’t know what’s more amusing, reading that stuff or the histories that leave out the GOPs’s inconvenient parts.

And yes, there's is a difference. Ask anyone who ever served in the Army what their First General Order was.
How about mountains? Look up Mount McKinley. Named after the 25th President.
