Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is recalibrating his strategy and messaging amid signs that his presidential ambitions may be faltering before his campaign even gets off the ground.
DeSantis began the year with clear momentum in the nascent GOP presidential primary, topping former President Trump in head-to-head polling and drawing unparalleled interest from Republican voters and operatives eager to see a fresh face at the helm of the party.
But there are signs that his momentum may be stalling: he’s faced weeks of relentless attacks from Trump and his allies, fellow Republicans have criticized him for dubbing Russia’s invasion of Ukraine “a territorial dispute” and some recent polls have shown his support in a hypothetical GOP primary slipping.
“I think for all the fanfare about DeSantis, there’s still a lot of stuff he needs to work on,” said one Republican strategist, who plans to back the Florida governor in the 2024 primary if he runs. “That’s normal when you’re exploring this kind of thing. But I think he needs to rethink things a little bit.”
To some degree, that already appears to be happening.

Revamp strategy?
Stop spewing the slogans of RINOs and the deep state.
you obviously don’t live in florida...
All he has to do is endorse MAGA, Trump, and his political ambitions will be back on track for ‘28
Revamping strategies? I know! How about NOT stabbing in the back the person you called on for help and he subsequently got you elected? That’s a good strategy. Oh, and there’s also NOT throwing a wrench in the MAGA base by causing division and chaos for your own political ambitions....that might help. The only other revamp I can think of is NOT taking all of the establishment money and endorsements....that would go a long way as well! Come to think of it, thanks for showing everyone what a duplicitous swamp creature you really are.
Neither does 90% of the country.
Ron’s biggest problem is that he positions himself as maga with no drama… as the next best thing to trump.
But the Lion is still here. Most of MAGA doesn’t want the next best thing.
They want real MAGA
Even THE HILL is dissing DeSantis.
Yup, he angered the Neocons and Deep Staters with that position.
Yes,but the Canidate has to win 7 voters in the 7 swing states.
Just a posted notice to remind us all.
Dear FRiends, our 1st qtr FReepathon is running behind. It looks like we’re not going to hit our target, but with your help, maybe we can at least get it over 90%. 3/25/2023, 11:36:11 AM · by Jim Robinson
Letting the GOPe run you is a losing strategy.
His first Ukraine comment was his view, the change was to the donor and establishment view. The msm is wrong. His polling is not going down because of his first view, but his change.
when your brand has been taking the High Road, resorting to snidey snark about hushmoney/porn star etc didn’t play well. that was on top of confusion about his stance on Ukraine which he really needs to clean up because he has no foreign policy experience. he needs to attract independents, moderate R’s and not offend Trump people. he lost a number of the latter this week. but it’s early.
DeS has gone out of his way to prove himself a phony. Not on our side.
But he had no choice. The Bush people are using blackmail, and DeS must obey.
Can Trump win in AZ, PA, WI, NV, VA, and MI?
Then he flipped, quoted McCain and pissed off the MAGA base
The USA, the whole of it, is not Florida. Not everyone pays attention much and he is not well known to all the people. That is why Ron should wait until he finishes a successful second term as Governor The GOPe is leading him in the wrong direction.
people are moving to florida to escape the demonrats insanity in blue states...
educate yourself...
your willful ignorance is on full display...
