Jesus was a rebel. He rebelled against the world and overcame it. In times like these, Christian unity can be found in rebellion.
But Christians are, of course, to strive for peace and avoid conflict when they can. Where to draw the line?
Take the case of Cornerstone Church of Caledonia in Michigan, the largest United Methodist congregation in the state.
It has voted to leave the mainline Protestant denomination, according to The Christian Post. The vote wasn’t close, either. The final tally came in at 616-9, with two abstentions.
The UMC website emphasized that the split has not been contentious. I guess it was a peaceful rebellion of sorts.

I believe all mainline protestant churches are now effectively in schism. Every one has split in various ways over the embracing of homosexuality, pansexuality really. Screwtape will be getting a promotion soon.
unfortunately, it seems the Catholic church owns all the parishes...so there is no voting them out....
625 members is the largest Methodist church in the whole state?
You can take your wokeness and support for the freakshow and shove it.
Churches sould stand for morals, Not for crappola.
Finally someone cuts from the UMC?
These people have long been liberal apologists at least the whole ‘90s. I was a member of American Family Assoc. from then to about 15 years ago, and their founder was a UMC pastor who reported a lot on the blasphemy of his denomination then.
Glad to hear a big congregation overwhelmingly voting to lead e these apostates.
Just a posted notice to remind us all.
Dear FRiends, our 1st qtr FReepathon is running behind. It looks like we’re not going to hit our target, but with your help, maybe we can at least get it over 90%. 3/25/2023, 11:36:11 AM · by Jim Robinson
The American Methodist Church is going to undergo a massive “schism” this Summer, and split from the international denomination, as did the Lutheran and Episcopal Churches, over the past few years.
Likely not everyone voted at all.
Now they must find a new building. The conferance owns their present church building
From the article’s “quotes” it sounds like the parting was amicable. That’s the way to do it imo.
Hope so, the alternative is frightening.
Well, this church can’t decide.
Probably true but the congregation can always vote with their feet and pocketbook.
“The American Methodist Church is going to undergo a massive “schism” this Summer, and split from the international denomination, as did the Lutheran and Episcopal Churches, over the past few years.”
Two Methodist churches near us recently “disaffiliated” with the United Methodist Church. Before this, the most recent schism here was the Presbyterians.
I never thought I would see schisms in religious denominations over the issue of homosexuality.
It seems as if, in denomination after denomination, there are elements who are challenging the theology so as to embrace homosexuality.

Well and truly said!
Probably true but the congregation can always vote with their feet and pocketbook.

Which is exactly what Traditionalists have been doing ever since the close of the Satan Council (Vatican, 1962-1965). And Satan’s Pope Francis has been triggering an increase of those departures!
YES!!!
They forget to mention in the article that there is a path to what should have been a large part of the decision and they missed it.
It is determined in the Bible through Leviticus 18:22
“You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.”
1 Timothy 1:9-10: “The law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine.”
There’s more, but that’s enough to make a point. So if the act is considered a sin. To be forgiven by God means that your sins have been removed, and restoration has taken place. By God’s gracious gift of forgiveness through Christ, any wrong you have done is not held against you. God is eager to forgive and provides forgiveness to you through faith in Jesus Christ. It’s your choice to receive it. But it is not an action for you to receive as a get out of jail free card and repeat continuously because you like it. That’s using God for your purposes and you had no intention of asking for forgiveness. This constitutes a blasphemy directly at God.
All sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin” (Mark 3:28-29).
So the church by supporting this is therefore guilty of this blasphemy because they are just using the forgiveness while having no intention of stopping an act directly entertained in the Bible as wrong. Thus their deceitfulness is far greater a sin than the actual sin itself they are trying to justify it’s practice.
