Ron DeSantis may be missing his moment.
A number of the Florida governor’s donors and allies are worried his recent stumbles suggest he may not be ready for a brutal fight against Donald Trump. Some feel DeSantis needs to accelerate his timeline to run for the GOP presidential nomination and begin directly confronting Trump if he's to have any chance of thwarting the former president’s momentum. Others believe DeSantis should sidestep Trump altogether and wait until 2028 to run.
“They liked him — many of them might even support him,” the person who was at the event said of DeSantis. “But they thought on balance that his long-term future was better without him trying to take Trump head on.”
At a Sunday luncheon following the annual Red Cross ball in Palm Beach, Florida, a group of 16 prominent Republicans, described by one attendee as a mix of DeSantis backers and Trump "skeptics," discussed misgivings about the governor's standing for the future if he tussles with the former president.

I understand VP cannot come from same state as president but then the president can’t be foreign born or can’t be voted in with fraud either. So what do I know.
“Yep, you confirmed it. Keep praising the Antichrist media. Trump certainly sought their approval.”
Probably the most PATHETIC attempt to discredit a fellow FReeper that I’ve seen here. But if it floats your boat, so be it.
Florida is highly regulated with licensing and permitting required to make significant money.
The New York State I grew up in had far more freedom.
You are the one lapping up what Norhing But Communists reports.
Flip-flopping like a beached fish will get you cooked.
We shall see if he is ready I suspect.
Florida has problems with homeowners insurance and roofing.
An Aldi customer was told by a roofing contractor that he had a two-year wait list.
NBC’s concern for DeSantis is touching.
“Some feel DeSantis needs to ... begin directly confronting Trump “
Oh, yeah. THAT’s a really good idea, Turd Blossom, Karl. It’s worked so well for him recently. [eye roll]
Someone has to be lazy or dim to just reflectively take the opposite side of whatever side NBC takes. You will have a good batting average, but that doesn’t make you wise.
1 to write ...3 to keep Jonathan Allen fed.
The bottom line here is very clear to me. The Dems (and therefore the MSM) want to run against Trump. They know that Trump still polls very poorly against Independents and women, and he can’t win a general election without a majority of them. The sampling in a number of national polls is so skewed toward helping Trump that they are worthless. Now NBC comes out with this trash. Clearly the Dems don’t want to run against DeSantis! Whether the Dem’s assessment is right or wrong doesn’t change the fact that they fear him. Regardless of who you are for, or against, don’t let the Dems and the MSM pick our candidate.
Florida has a problem with Hurricanes.
My brother runs a small contracting business in FL. When there is a hurricane, guess whose homes get fixed first. And guess who gets the insurances guys to come out first?
Life is about networks. If you don’t have one...you are on the two year wait list.
Made up lies
Since it comes from nbc “news” I don’t believe any of it. It is a typical attack from the left on someone who might stand in the way of the left grabbing onto even more power in 2024.
The latest talking points from the Pro-DeSantis crowd.
Let’s see... Those who support him and donate money to him, are questioning his readiness?
LOL, nice try, NBC “News”.
I like Ron and he’s generally been a great governor. But, I tend to agree that maybe he’s not ready for a Presidential campaign.
Reminds me of Ted Cruz. Really like him as a senator. But was clearly not ready as a presidential candidate.
