Poland Springs water is NOT from "tap water". It comes from their own wells scattered around Maine. If you want to see one, go on route 2 through Hanover, Maine.
The pumps and storage tanks are on the north side of the road, less than a mile west of the intersection of route 5 north. Across the road from the well, you will usually see bobbed deuce and a halfs and 5 tons one of my friends makes and sells.
Come to visit during Andover Old Home Days for the parade of tanks and other historic military equipment.
On the way up route 5 there is a literal mountain of lithium crystals that the owner can't mine due to Maine's anti mining law that allows no mine more than 3 acres in size.
If you come on July 14-15, you will see a lot of rally cars, ham radio operators officials, marshals and spectators on those roads transiting to and from South Arm and Icicle Brook stages of the New England Forest Rally.
Watch for the U1300L Unimog with a Zeppelin NATO radio shelter, that's me.
Thanks for the local intel!
That could be a very interesting road trip.
Wow, that’s cool and not far from my dads hometown of Rumford!
