The head of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, Matilda Bogner, said her organisation had documented the killings of 'up to 25 Russian prisoners of war' by Ukrainian armed forces ......as well as 'the summary execution of 15 Ukrainian prisoners of war shortly after being captured by Russian armed forces'.
Several execution videos of prisoners of war (POWs) shared on social media have shocked the world since the war started.
it's not just the Russians that are accused of killings prisoners of war.
In a video published in April last year, Ukrainian soldiers were seen killing their apparently captured Russian counterparts with their hands tied behind their backs.
The video, which the New York Times verified, shows Ukrainian troops committing the killings, after what appeared to be an ambush outside a village west of Kyiv.

Wasn’t there just a video posted on FR of some Rooskies gunning down a Uke POW?
Anyone have the URL?
This inevitably creates feeling of ambivalence among those FReepers who are emotionally invested in one side or the other.
No surprise here. Neocon keyboard warriors have been calling for it. From the safety of their parlors, of course.
There are many nasty people on both sides.
True. We should stop funding the carnage and encourage peace talks. But the Neocons want to drag it out to weaken Russia, no matter how many Ukrainians or Russians die along the way.
One would be hard pressed to find a war where either side didn’t shoot prisoners. Some are isolated incidents and some are a matter of policy. I had a friend who fought in Italy in WWII and was a platoon leader. He said when he caught his guys shooting German prisoners, they got a good “ass-chewing “. He said he killed a lot of Germans but none with their hands over their head even though there were times when the numbers of surrendering soldiers created logistical problems.
Were these UNs the ones in the White Helmets or the ones in the Blue Helmets "working" with children?
Russians of all three types (Russia, the Ukraine and Belarus) are brutal people. It’s their way of life.
I will say this:
Anyone invading my territory *will* be killed if I can do so. I don’t care if they fly a white flag, or parachuted down, or were just logistics. The only question will be fast or slow.
I sure as hell don’t blame *any* group of people for doing the most horrible things to invaders; I would expect zero mercy if I were a soldier beyond my borders, nor would I give any if I were Ukrainian, Vietcong, German, Afghan instead of an old, fat, American sitting here in safety.
Yep
....” (Russia, the Ukraine and Belarus) are brutal people. It’s their way of life”....
Ukrainians have historically been violent....if they aren’t fighting in protests against whatever they’re fighting each other.
While I hate the Russians, and have for 50+ years, I don’t believe the Ukes are good people, either.
My observation is that our “leadership” is willing to fight to the last Ukrainian so as to damage Russia (and make profit for the M.I.C.
Having grown up in the Cold War, and believing that the problem never was that the Russians were communist, but that the communists were Russian, I have a bit if vicarious enjoyment that these bastards who had nukes targeted near my house are dying by the bushel and using up their recourses, but I don’t pretend that it’s for the greater good, either.
Is it illegal under international law? I don’t think so. If one side does it, then obviously the other side will as well.
Doesn’t matter if it’s legal or not.....in a heated war it’s every man fighting to survive however they have to do it.
Well that’s curently happening in your state on your border with the invasion of illegals from everywhere.
During the cold war we were taught to believe that Russia was unstoppable. It’s good to see that Russia, a potential adversary of the U.S., can be brought low by determined military resistance.
None of that brings comfort to Ukraine, whose chances of defeating Russia are nil.
The mere act of acknowledging that reality opens me up to vicious flaming and accusations of Putin puffery from the emotionally invested.
Ain’t that the truth.
And all these old NATO landmines sitting in a warehouse somewhere :-(
