White House gives advice to Russia, which is worried about its tanks in Ukraine being destroyed by depleted uranium

John Kirby, Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the National Security Council at the White House, has stated that depleted uranium rounds are a common type of munition, and that Russia's claims that they are a step toward escalation are groundless.

The White House representative said that the United States is not providing Ukraine with depleted uranium munitions.

"There have been health studies done on depleted uranium munitions, it is not a radioactive threat, it is not anywhere close to going into the nuclear realm. This is a commonplace type of munition that is used particularly for its armour-piercing capabilities," he emphasised.

"If Russia is deeply concerned about the welfare of their tanks and tank soldiers, the safest thing for them to do is move them across the border, get them out of Ukraine," Kirby added.

Background: On Monday, the UK confirmed that it will supply Ukraine with depleted uranium rounds. Russian President Vladimir Putin later criticised the decision, falsely claiming that it was a weapon with a "nuclear component".

Depleted uranium is a waste product of the uranium enrichment process, which involves the separation of the uranium-235 isotope from natural uranium. Due to its high density, depleted uranium is also used in the armour of military vehicles (in particular, M1 Abrams tanks) and armour-piercing rounds.

NATO countries are known to have used munitions containing depleted uranium during the Kosovo operation, which is why they were accused of increasing the incidence of leukaemia.

However, according to experts, such rounds existed in the Soviet Union, and Russian troops have already used them in Ukraine during the full-scale war. In addition, there is no reason to believe that depleted uranium is related to nuclear weapons, as Putin has claimed.

It says the video isn’t available any longer. If you have the name of it, I’ll do a search for it.

Analysis / Bias

Foreign Policy Journal republishes articles, essays, viewpoints written by activists and academics from a progressive standpoint, such as the articles of Professor Richard A. Falk, American professor emeritus of international law at Princeton University, “Renaming the 1948 War: Partition, Dispossession, and Fragmentation.”

In review, their articles cover various topics that range from the environment, “Can Architecture Fix Our Health, Minds, Societies, Environment?“ to TV documentary critics, “PBS’s Vietnam Acknowledges Nixon’s Treason.” When it comes to economic matters they are not highly critical of the Trump Administration, but instead are critical of the overall system as evidenced by this quote from the article “in the Great Western Democracies, economic policy only serves the hyper-rich and the hyper-powerful. Citizens simply do not count. They are as nothing.“ Foreign Policy Journal also publishes conspiracy theories and pseudoscience such as anti-vaxx propaganda and 9-11 conspiracies.

Editorially, Foreign Policy Journal is progressive on international geopolitics, diplomacy, and military matters. When it comes to news analysis they use loaded language both in their headlines and the body of the article such as “The Myth of the U.N. Creation of Israel.” However, they utilize credible sources such as un.org , avalon.law.yale.edu and Al Jazeera.

Overall, when covering political issues Foreign Policy Journal has a far left bias in story selection and we rate them factually Mixed due to promotion of conspiracy theories. (M. Huitsing 3/30/2018) Updated (10/12/2018)

Yeah, I was going back quite a bit, the term “shell shock” was poorly understood, during World War I for example. People breaking down after weeks on the line, were charged with malingering and things like that.

Nowadays it is called “PTSD” or somesuch, and apparently applies to anyone anywhere, for any situation, including Burger King getting the food order wrong.

New technologies in war can be devastating. No doubt. Imagine being a soldier and watching that happen to a tank ? They never saw it coming.

My concern is using ‘unconventional weapons’ which are known to cause birth defects to parties not even fighting in a war. While (from what I’ve read so far) the US, Russia, nor Ukraine have ever signed the agreement to not use them - it still does not make them right. I used to expect better from our country. Our military leaders know they are being used, yet do not appear to have stopped it. Saying I’m Disappointed is such a useless sounding description. How I feel has no bearing. However, there needs to be an end to it.

I will argue that you believe what you read that is enemy propaganda.

The uranium weapons are not going to cause birth defects except in the minds of those that fear them or lawyers seeking to make a $
