DirecTV and Newsmax have reached a new multiyear deal that will bring the conservative channel back to some 13 million customers this week.
The deal marks the end of a lengthy and bitter public relations battle between the two companies that hinged on carrier fees, with Newsmax’s leadership repeatedly accusing the cable provider of political bias.
“Newsmax recognizes and appreciates that DirecTV clearly supports diverse voices, including conservative ones,” Newsmax CEO Christopher Ruddy said in a statement celebrating the agreement. “As a standalone company, DirecTV helped give Newsmax its start nearly a decade ago as it continues to do with upcoming news networks, which is why we are pleased to reach a mutually beneficial agreement that will deliver our network to DirecTV, DirecTV STREAM and U-verse customers over the next several years.”

So they got them off the air during the period of time when Newsmax was covering the millions the Biden got from the ChiComs. Trump’s BS indictment has killed that story so safe to bring Newsmax back. It must have cost DTV a lot of subscribers.

I personally helped 2 make the switch to OTA and streaming over this issue.
The dollar won. It always does. Newsmax will pay a fee for the first time. No more freebies.
That’s why Directv brought Newsmax back-—people were leaving. Good for them——at some point we have to let these woke idiots know we’re done with them when they pull this crap. There’s plenty of other options, BTW>
No this happens all the time on Directv and Dish Network, here in Jacksonville where I live Dish Network dropped a bunch of local channels in a dispute, the World Cup was not carried in town by Dish Network it’s resolved now
Now bring back ONN and every other conservative news source that is at least as profitable as the liberal sources. As a former customer of Direct TV, I responded to their latest ad to ‘come back’. I called their number and it sent me to ATT (but only if I was an ATT customer, which I am). So I unloaded on a real person and told her the only way I would come back was to reinstate Newsmax and ONN, and get rid of all of the liberal stations that are losing money). Of course, I will never be back.
This is good.
But, I still think it was mostly ratings or maybe just some contract problem. Sorry, but I don’t believe Newsmax had a huge following.
Maybe they will soon.
I’d like to watch but honestly I didn’t like the quality as much. And lots of exact repetition.
It’s OAN, and I seriously doubt it was profitable. It was pretty low quality, and definitely “right” news bias. Which annoys even me after a while. I just want the report, not the editorial.
