BREAKING: DeSantis declares 'I can win the Presidency'
The Post Millennial ^ | Mar 21, 2023 | The Post Millennial

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has finally broken his silence on his much anticipated potential 2024 presidential run, giving an interview from the governor's mansion in which he said that he has what it takes to be president and "I can beat Biden."

DeSantis sat down with Piers Morgan in a wide-ranging interview, saying "stay tuned" when asked about the potential 2024 bid for the GOP nomination. Former President Donald Trump is currently the front-runner for that spot, as he endeavors to earn his second term.

"It was clear that the governor has had enough of Trump’s constant baiting and felt ready to take him on in what could end up being a ferocious battle for the White House," Morgan said, writing about the interview for the New York Post.

"DeSantis slammed Trump over his character failings," Morgan continued, "chaotic leadership style, and for his handling of the COVID pandemic — especially in keeping controversial health chief Dr. Anthony Fauci in his post helping to run the White House Coronavirus Taskforce."

Morgan asked DeSantis how the two most popular Republicans in the country are different, and DeSantis said "Well I think there’s a few things. The approach to COVID was different. I would have fired somebody like Fauci. I think he got way too big for his britches, and I think he did a lot of damage."

DeSantis shut down Florida early on in the pandemic before opening up and giving the state the label "the free state of Florida."

"I also think just in terms of my approach to leadership," DeSantis said, slamming the former president and the man to whom he owes much of his political start, "I get personnel in the Government who have the agenda of the people and share our agenda. You bring your own agenda in you’re gone. We’re just not gonna have that. So, the way we run the Government I think is no daily drama, focus on the big picture and put points on the board and I think that’s something that’s very important."

Morgan asked about the mudslinging that has already started as rumors of a DeSantis run swirl. "I don’t know how to spell the sanctimonious one. I don’t really know what it means, but I kinda like it, it’s long, it's got a lot of vowels. We’ll go with that, that’s fine. I mean you can call me whatever you want, just as long as you also call me a winner because that’s what we’ve been able to do in Florida, is put a lot of points on the board and really take this State to the next level," he said.

Trump endorsed DeSantis when he first ran for governor, helping him beat out Andrew Gillum. "Ron DeSantis is a brilliant young leader. Yale and then Harvard who would make a great Governor of Florida. He loves our country. He’s a true fighter," Trump had said at the time.

"Things have changed a little bit, I guess. It is what it is," DeSantis said.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.

His clear chance to counterpunch Trump ended when word leaked of Trump’s pending arrest.

After that DeSanctus in his cheap shot denigration of Trump had the distinct look of kicking Trump when he was already down.

Exactly this Trump or no one is silly, less than a year ago nearly everyone on FR couldn’t say enough nice things about DeSantis, he makes one pointless comment about Trump and many of these same people are saying they would never vote for him

Trump is the King of stupid comments, it wasn’t six months ago when Trump was selling trading cards of himself

The grab’em by the p*$$y comments didn’t end his career

" I would have fired somebody like Fauci"

When, before or after he shut down Florida for the "Pandemic"?

DeSantis is a weasel of the highest order.

When his supporters hold him up as some kind of saint in comparison to President Trump, if he makes a colossal mistake like he just did, it gets naturally amplified.

You see, his supporters, and everyone else, has been given this bill of sale and DeSantis just proved it wasn’t so.

Nobody’s fault except those pushing DeSantis, his supporters, and DeSantis himself.

A good reason to waste your gas would be to vote for a Republican you might not care for, because if such a Republican got elected , he would keep a Democrat out of the White House.

I would vote for Trump or DeSantis, but anyone else? Why waste the gas?

Because I love the country and absolutely loathe Democrats. Because it's my civic responsibility. Because I have a duty to respect the sacrifice many have made for this nation. Those are just a few of the reasons, but if a few pennies in gas is more important to you so be it.

I've had serious reservations about DeSantis for a long time. The more I looked at them, the more those "reservations" became red flags.

And over the last few months those red flags have only gotten bigger and brighter. In fact, I expect that I will be completely vindicated about RDS as the 2024 election cycle plays out.

Are the Dems stupid enough to renominate the already senile 78 yo Biden? They might if 76 yo DT is the R option. Both are already too old imo. As Clint Eastwood said: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VrFV5r8cs0

So does that mean he has to step down as governor. Guy has made some bad mistakes lately. Sad to have to say that.

“Hindsight is 20/20”

That is true but DeSantis made the right moves in real time. He didn’t turn his leadership over to the 5’2” nazi in a lab coat.

I will not vote for another Romney or McCain.

That's fine. I will, if that's my only option. Until I'm down to whoever the candidate ends up being, I'll fight for Trump all the way.

It's worse even than that. Around election time 2022, Trump started flinging poo at Governor DeSantis for no good reason, and the whole troop of monkeys joined in.

It reminds me of the communist Big Media creeps all using the same talking points and phrases at exactly the same time.

No-one here is exactly what he appears.

He got 74 million. Biden got 81. You flipped the number accidentally.

Just like Romney gave us four years of Obama and just like McCain gave us four years of Obama. IT IS STOOPID TO NOT VOTE FOR THE CANDIDATE. We know how it works out every time.

Exactly. Until then, Trump needs to learn Regan's 11th commandment: thou shall not speak ill of another Republican. Trump and DeSantis can brag on their good without tearing each other down.

Also until then, DeSantis needs to learn to take up for Trump and any other American the Dims try to destroy. When the Dims attack anybody, DeSantis' and everybody's first response should be, "Before anybody does anything, let's first make sure the Dims aren't doing their usual Communist Party attacks on their opposition."

“He can’t. Millions of MAGA will stay home.”

Most MAGA will vote for either man because our nation is at stake.
There will only be a few snot nosed snowflakes that stay home.

Around election time 2022, Trump started flinging poo at Governor DeSantis for no good reason ...

Actually, that was the time when persistent rumors began surfacing of major GOP donors and political insiders lining up behind DeSantis for a 2024 presidential run.

Interestingly, one of the biggest flaws DeSantis has is that he really can't say no to these donors and insiders even if he wants to. The circumstances seem ideal for a 2028 run for him, but because he's an Ivy League lawyer who has never worked outside government, he's (relatively speaking) flat broke and must do whatever his handlers tell him to do -- even if it means tossing his hat into the ring for a less-than-ideal 2024 campaign.
