The trick is the word “continuously”. He was never out of New York continuously..that was his residence...he was simply living in OUR HOUSE on and off.

I don’t know the history of how the rules for grand jury (GJ) have changed over the years, but it certainly is not a just system IMO.
That is why at least in New Mexico, Defendant has the right to demand a Preliminary Exam (PE) which challenges probable cause. PE has a judge and requires rules of evidence from both sides and arguments from both sides.
It would an interesting study to compare the results of the same case going through both PE and GJ.
