EXCLUSIVE: Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis will headline the Heritage Foundation’s 50th leadership summit in April after skipping the annual Conservative Political Action Conference attended by former President Donald Trump earlier this month.

DeSantis, who pundits widely expect to launch a White House bid later this year but who currently remains on the 2024 sidelines, will deliver a "major policy speech" concluding Heritage’s two-day annual summit on April 21 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, according to a press release by Heritage.

"Conservatives are craving a bold and visionary leader who gets things done — and that’s exactly what Gov. Ron DeSantis has accomplished in Florida," Heritage President Kevin Roberts said in a statement.

DeSantis’s publisher is owned by News Corp.

Didn’t buy the book.

“Yes, DeSantis is a real conservative, something that many FReepers wish to discard too easily.

If they could actually deliver some FACTS about what is wrong with DeSantis policies, then they might score some points.

But name-calling and innuendoes is not poltical discourse. It is right out of the Alinsky playbook....and that should tell you much about those who villify DeSantis.

There are rational Trump supporters who do not engage in the childish behavior that other Trump supporters believe is a substitute for actual intelligence.”

Thank you for some balance and reason.

“If he doesn’t fear his opponents, then why the snide remark about porn star hush money in an otherwise on-point criticism about what Alvin Bragg was considering for Donald Trump?

If Trump doesn’t fear his opponents, why the nasty, untrue, irrational arrows at DeSantis?

So people who believe in MAGA, who respect and uphold our Constitution, who value freedom and free markets are cultists?

I support Trump because he cherishes the same things I do.

Because he lives the lives, fortunes, and sacred honor thing.

He’s walked that walk.

If he didn’t, I wouldn’t.

How does that make me and the people who feel as I do cultists?

You make my point for me. Because I am not slavishly pro-Trump, you call me GOPe.

As far as Desantis goes, I like what he is actually doing in Florida. As he is not yet running for president, I haven’t seen a lot of his policy prescriptions at the federal level. When I do, I’ll decide if I like them or not.

As far as Trump’s promise to end the Department of Education, I am not impressed. That’s not something a president can do on his own, and Trump’s habit of alienating people who should be on his side insures that he won’t get it passed through Congress. Easy to promise something you know you will never be able to do as long as you have someone else to blame.

LOL. Trump is a “snide remark” machine. If you’re going to dish it out you have to take it. DeSantis has kept from dragging the wife into it which Trump would no doubt do if the shoe was on the other foot.

What’s wrong with DeSantis policies...

Here’s a biggie: Take a look at Florida’s budgets since he’s been gov.

Tell me how the guy who’s signed off on those is a conservative.

Your reply to my hope that all this internecine warfare ends soon indicates pretty clearly that it will not.

One more...

Read the 130+ bill that the legislature passed last August and DeSantis signed and allegedly secures Florida’s elections.

After reading that tell me why DeSantis supported and signed a bill that does NOT secure Florida’s elections.

There you go again, you are a gopE because you support BIG G'ment. Unlike Trump who I hope will shrink the Fed. G'ment,

He failed the fist time around with the Budget deals, I hope he does better the second time around.

Tell us, oh great supporter of the gopE - whare does RON stand on the important issues - Fed. G'ment spending being one example, where does Ron do more than the DONALD? I have provided examples of the Donald's America first programs, I have not seen or read any such thing from Mr. Desanctamonious

Have you been on this forum during the past three presidential election cycles? - if not, what you are witnessing right now is VERY tame

If Trump and his supporters didn’t fear DeSantis, they’d just ignore him. People talk about what they love, enjoy or fear most. That’s human nature. DeSantis says little about Trump so one can conclude he doesn’t fear or love Trump.

You continue to make my point for me. You say I am pro big government, but you know nothing about my stance on that issue. All you know is that I am not unquestioningly pro-Trump, and based on that one piece of information you infer all of these other false positions. As I said, all that matters to the Trumpers is whether or not you support Trump. If not, facts about what you actually believe or do is irrelevant.

Didn’t DeSantis criticize the “weaponized” Soros lackey who is the NY prosecutor?

DeSantis has been weak in denouncing Bragg and Bragg's political prosecution. Check out how Ted Cruz did it and compare to DeSantis' weakness on the matter.

I can see you are not easily impressed, so why does the Ron impress you?

I grew up in the 70's and speaking to power was a big thing then, today you call that alienating people - Did you always get a trophy just for showing up?
