The politicians want to force us into EVs so they can achieve total control over our lives.

Swap a chevy small block in there for $5000 and you’re back on the road.

This is terribly misleading coverage. You can absolutely replace an EV battery pack. And Tesla does it frequently. The grain of truth behind this false assertion is this: Tesla will replace the entire battery pack during its 8-year warrantee. AFTER those 8 years, Tesla will not service the packs, and their service centers will instead recommend replacing the pack, which can cost up to $20,000. Most insurers are contractually obligated to use manufacturer-approved service centers, so if the value of car is less than $20,000, the car may be considered “totaled.”

HOWEVER, there ABSOLUTELY are ways that a Tesla driver can have his battery pack repaired for FAR, FAR less.

So this is strange and expensive. While it’s true that it kinda sucks, why would Tesla do this? Well, any time a Tesla catches fire, it makes global headlines. Maybe rebuilding a damaged battery pack can lead to unsafe conditions; maybe it won’t. It hasn’t been demonstrated that it does, but Tesla isn’t willing to risk their reputation based on local service centers’ repair skills.

They can make swappable and repairable batteries. Cell phones used to have them.

But that was long ago in a time where the consumer had some pull.

This appears to be the next crisis for Biden to fix.

Namely, the government needs to create a NATIONAL CAR INSURANCE AGENCY where gas powered cars pay the same insurance rates as EV cars.

From the article “some countries are starting to see electric vehicle batteries piling up in scrapyards, according to Reuters.” Just wait til that dumpster fire starts.

One of my wife’s friends decided to keep her ten year old Prius and is on her third battery. The two battery replacements have totaled almost $15,000. While so far the engine and other components have held up it is only a matter of time when these will have problems. I fail to see the economics of replacing these batteries.

I expect that car insurance for EVs will become very costly due to repair costs and of course the potential fire hazard. Buying a used EV especially one beyond any warranty for battery replacement will be in my opinion quite a financial risk.

Ev's. The "green machines" that are powered by coal or natural gas. And a teeny tiny bit by nuclear.

Would you trust your electric car not to explode in flames after any accident damage was repaired as just 1 bad battery can cause a runaway fire.
