If you think about what “their” goal would be, it would be to damage Trump. They would damage him by getting him to “act” like Trump: Over react, generate drama, and show how he inspires his folks to violence. I think they accomplished that stuff already. Just reading some of the comments on this forum shows how reactive he and his supporters are. It is always best to prepare for the worst, but not in public. It is best not to react before something happens; that way you won’t over react. His people should be advising him of that. Instead, it is a fundraising activity.

Does it cross your mind that a government that would play games with a private citizen like you describe deserves to be fundraised against?

I think you missed my point about this case not making it to trial. That statute of limitations alone would be a reason to dismiss this.
