I’m 65 and began taking benefits at 62. All the financial pinheads say to delay longer than your first eligibility. That makes the very big assumption that the numbers will stay as they now are. But not if the benefits get cut 10 years down the road. At least I will have gotten something out of SS before it goes away.

I could have gotten reduced benefit at 62 but did not.

Waited for my ‘official’ full benefit age...... Glad I did................

I hope you are not planning on living off the reduced benefit in your old age. I delayed taking SS till I was 67. I have put every cent I’ve gotten from social security away since my first check 5 years ago. I haven’t spent a nickel of it. I’m also putting away at least 50% of my current salary.

I could retire comfortably right now, but right now my job is not that hard and I’m getting well paid to do it.

It gives me something to do while I figure out what I want to be when I grow up.
