202 views Mar 16, 2023 #russia #drone #blacksea US military officials have released a dramatic video of the moment a Russian fighter jet collided with a US drone over the Black Sea earlier this week.
The footage shared Thursday morning by the US European Command (EUCOM) was captured by the underside camera of the MQ-9 Reaper drone as one of two Su-27 fighter jets attempted to spray it with jet fuel.
On the second try, the jet collides with the drone’s rear propeller, and the screen pixelates as communication goes down.
An audio clip also purported to capture a Russian salvage team recovering the aircraft’s engine casing.
“We raised part of the object,” one voice says in the recording obtained by East to West.

Update on Russian military operations in Ukraine for March 16, 2023:
- Russian warplanes intercepted and apparently clipped the propeller of a US MQ-9 drone carrying out surveillance near Crimea;
- The US has no means of recovering the drone, though Russia may have an opportunity to recover it;
- While the drone operated in international airspace according to the US, it was collecting intelligence on behalf of Ukraine as part of ongoing hostilities, as a party of the conflict and thus threatening Russian national security;
- Bakhmut continues to face encirclement;
- The Western media has begun admitting to the grim deterioration of Ukraine’s forces under the weight of Russia’s strategy of attrition;
- Ukraine has lost the majority of troops trained by NATO over the last 8-9 years;
- Ongoing NATO training is rushed, incapable of meeting or exceeding Russia’s pool of trained manpower;
- Ammunition and weapons are also admittedly running out;
- Ukraine may or may not be diverting reserves for an upcoming spring offensive to instead fight in Bakhmut;
- Any possible counteroffensive around Bakhmut might indicate just how badly deteriorated Ukraine’s forces have become;
Changing the topic again? You just can’t admit that the 27 and the 18 both have hard points on their wing tips, can you?
“While the drone operated in international airspace”
Yes, it did. And Russia is now escalating their war against Ukraine to directly include the United States and NATO.
Pass the popcorn, please.
It would be difficult to hit the propeller without striking the Elevator.
The prop in the Final frames Does exhibit damage.
A Ruskie Hot Shot Pilot forsure!
This thread is finished. Bring me a new fairytale.
Perhaps the right side elevator falling off ???
.
Crazy Ivan at it Again!
“Bring me a new fairytale.”
I’ll give your choice of a few:
1. Russia won the war against Ukraine in ten days, just as planned.
2. Russia isn’t so strapped that they have to deploy T-62 and T-55 tanks.
3. Russia never lies.
4. Putin isn’t a short man who wears high heels.
5. You live in Texas
6. You live in Florida
7. You live in Arkansas
8. You are an American
There you go. Plenty of fairy tales for you to run with.
All true. NATO entered the war after 10 days so technically Ukraine was defeated. I’m currently living elsewhere looking for a new, rich widow.
How did it happen and why was only one blade on the prop damaged? Seems impossible.
A fuel dump / ignite looks like a nice cheap way to down a balloon.
We actually DON”T KNOW if there was any damage to the fighter, or, for that matter, unseen parts of the drone’s tail.
Note how slowly the drone’s prop is turning, even B4 the 1st pass by the fighter (that we see). Possibly the operator successfully restarted the engine and then vibration was a problem? Either way, the drone was now effectively only a glider.
Maybe the Russian pilot thought the drone was coming down too slowly or the engine might get restarted, and decided to get more aggressive, tried to damage the drone with wake turbulence?
Well, at least he didn’t try to damage the drone with woke turbulence. That’d REALLY confound some of the crowd we have on here! ;-)
“”I thought we were already officially at WAR with Russia? Didn’t we declare WAR against Russia as soon as we started giving weapons and military aid to Ukraine?””
You don’t remember the Korean war and the Vietnam war?
One the russian jet didn’t ram the drone. It dumped fuel on it, like a dog pissing on a fire hydrant. Second, the drone was in the Russian air defense identification zone with it’s transponder off. Just as the USA had full right to shoot down the Chinese surveillance balloon off the coast of south Carolina, so too did the Ruskies have a right to shoot down a drone with it’s transponder off. As another poster has already commented, maybe we ought not be spying on a country 6,000 miles away over a conflict that is none of our business.
The material “rolls” back. Same sort of thing happened with metal in my Chevy Tahoe in a collision, and that was at under 40 mph.
The Russian plane is not seen after the strike (and why would it be, unless he came around for another pass, but, after a strike he’d really be crazy to do that.)
That’s right, 6,000 miles; we’re protected by 2 oceans (1937 thinking)!
Friendly fire. Sheesh!
Well, I at least thank you for the info. I did a little checking with a knowledgeable friend (in the biz, so to speak) & it looks like you are correct.
I’m not sure about the wingtips, but, the vid may create a bit of an optical illusion. I also know that on some planes, different variants have different wingtip designs. Engine placement, not so much. ;-)
>>>That’s right, 6,000 miles; we’re protected by 2 oceans (1937 thinking)!<<<
China can’t even muster up the ships to naval invade Taiwan, which is a small island 100 miles off the mainland. Russia has never had the ability to do any large naval invasions, even back when it was the USSR. And what European country can even ferry more than a single division across the Atlantic?
IMHO the two oceans are still working pretty damn well.
So in your opinion, we should have sat out WWII??

In WW2 we were eliminating Nazi’s, today the US is funding Nazi’s. The Ukie Neo Nazis are real, Bandera as a national hero is real, statues and streets named after him are real….they have infiltrated the Ukie government a decade ago.
