Yes, there’ll be a few fires in the near future. Not exactly bonfires but fires nonetheless. I’m not about to roll everything to one spot to burn it. Too much acreage for that.
Usually it’s a day or so before your winds get over here but this front must be moving across the country pretty fast. I reckon I’ll need to braid my hair to anchor it tomorrow morning to go to the Republican women’s meeting. And on that note, I need to head out to start getting ready for bed. I wasn’t watching the clock and the night’s slipped away from me. Catch ya tomorrow.
Bible in a Year:
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.
In the late 1800s, people in different places developed similar ministry resources at the same time. The first was in Montreal, Canada, in 1877. In 1898, another concept was launched in New York City. By 1922, some five thousand of these programs were active in North America each summer.
Thus began the early history of Vacation Bible School. The passion that fueled those VBS pioneers was a desire for young people to know the Bible.
Paul had a similar passion for his young protégé Timothy, writing that “Scripture is God-breathed” and equips us “for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16–17). But this wasn’t just the benign suggestion that “it’s good to read your Bible.” Paul’s admonition follows the dire warning that “there will be terrible times in the last days” (v. 1), with false teachers who are “never able to come to a knowledge of the truth” (v. 7). It’s essential we protect ourselves with Scripture, for it immerses us in the knowledge of our Savior, making us “wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus” (v. 15).
Studying the Bible isn’t just for kids; it’s for adults too. And it isn’t just for summer; it’s for every day. Paul wrote to Timothy, “from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures” (v. 15), but it’s never too late to begin. Whatever stage of life we’re in, the wisdom of the Bible connects us to Jesus. This is God’s VBS lesson to us all.
Reflect & Pray
What are your favorite Scripture passages? How do they point to Christ?
Loving God, thank You for the gift of Scripture and how it helps me learn about Jesus.
Learn effective Bible study methods.
Hey there, Kathy.
It turned out to be a nice day today but it’s not going to last. Rain tomorrow night through Friday morning as another cold front comes through. Then we get another break, though it’ll be a cold weekend.
I saw some sunshine for a little while up there this afternoon. It’s cloudy to the east and north now but not too bad to the west. Another pretty sunset going on now.
See ya. Enjoy the meeting tomorrow. Hope you get back home before things begin to go south...or rather north to cold.
Yesterday at Chisolm Trail Park:
Today is a "heads up weather day here in Southern Oklahoma.
We'll see what happens.
How's everyone doing this morning?
“It’s reeeally windy here.”
Windy? In Midland-Odessa? Say it ain’t so! It is NEVER windy in Midland-Odessa!
** snicker **
Never! Riiiiight? It was nasty today.
I remember the 50 - 60 mph winds in February while standing on the rigs and the wind almost blowing us off of the rigs in your hometown! ;-)
It’s that kind of wind.
For some reason, I never knew you were ever here. My hubby worked on rigs before we were married. He was just a kid.
I had to take foreign students to the rigs out that way for their training sessions but I still had to stand there with them during their training.
