Russia launched its first huge missile wave on Ukrainian cities in weeks. The missiles killed at least nine civilians and cut electricity supplies in several cities. Ukraine’s military said its forces repelled over a hundred Russian attacks in Bakhmut in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile as the war rages on, the birth rate in Ukraine has dropped sharply since Russia’s invasion.
Population of Ukraine is about 43 million and of these about 8 million left after the invasion. From the people who left almost all were women as men have limits on leaving due to conscription.
CNBC-TV18’s Sanjay Suri gets a report on how the invasion has taken a toll on Ukraine’s population.

I wouldn’t doubt that Russia has similar problems. The women
there did not flee, but a lot of the men are gone.
In a war of a attrition, that favors Russia. Zelensky is walking into that trap.
Given the ‘attrition rate’ of men due to Russian artillery, any woman remaining in Ukraine will find herself fighting with many other women for the remaining men.
...so the smart ones simply get out, for good.
Only Western money has kept this country from collapsing months ago.

Ukraine had 48 million at the time of its last census in 2001
It has already had the lowest birth-rate in Europe, so population was already declining.
EU sources indicate it has had outward migration of 300-500K per year over that period
It lost 8+ million when Russia took Crimea
in 2022, 8 million fled West while about 2 million fled East
It lost another 6-7 million when Russia took Donbas/Luhansk.

Zelensky isn't being smart. We do have a say. We can cut him off. He needs to be more like George Washington. I'm not seeing that. I am sure that the Americans are advising him. But he is probably refusing to take their advice. Just my educated guess.
Zelensky is gambling that he will get advanced weapons from the West and that will be enough to give him the ultimate victory. But that requires time. Which he may not have.

Stop making up numbers. Crimea TOTAL population in 2021 was 2.4 million.
As I’ve read it, almmost no German children born in 45 - 46 survived childhood. Nazism seems to be bad for that kind of thing...
