Yes it was... against the doodlebugs...
When they ran out of fuel they came down... not a great targeting system, more a terror weapon.

Wasn’t that a tactic the Brits used on V-1s during WWII? I'm no expert but I wouldn't think a Spitfire (top speed 250mph) would be able to catch up to a V-1 (top speed 400mph) or survive any kind of impact with one.

yes, tipping was done but very rarely. shooting the V1 down was the preferred method.
Yes the late model Spits could chase and catch the V1 in level flight.
