Greta Thunberg deletes 2018 tweet saying world will end in 2023 after world does not end

On Saturday, Jack Posobiec posted a screenshot of a now-deleted 2018 tweet from Greta Thunberg, which linked to an article predicting humans would go extinct by 2023 due to climate change.

"A top climate scientist is warning that climate change will wipe out all humanity unless we stop using fossil fuels over the next five years." Thunberg's post read from 2018.

The website Thunberg sourced in her original tweet, gritpost.com, has since been shut down.

Well, to be fair, "near" is both a relative and subjective term.

Hah! I remember being in middle school in the early 1970's when they were telling us we'd be all dead in five years.

Well, to be fair, "near" is both a relative and subjective term.

Today's "Rapture-at-any-moment" folks rely on the ambiguity. They've been saying the end is near since the 1840's when the the Dispensationalist doctrine was first invented. They used to be more forthcoming about predicting actual dates, but they've got more cautious about that since they've been burned so many times. Nowadays, they'll just say, "it's near!"

I was a little kid, but I do remember that...the Coming Ice Age. I was too young to have remembered the depletion of resources/population bomb doom porn of the 60s. I only read about it later. I of course remember "peak oil".
