Yep. We love our Publix but it’s gettin’ so if it’s not some sort of discount we have a hard time shopping there.
Yesterday while there I remembered I needed charcoal.....the price for the name brand looked high so I checked my Walmart app.....sure enough it was a whole FIVE dollars cheaper at Walmart.
Publix prices also vary by store location.
In this area, the store West of US1 is ten percent cheaper than the one East of US1
It reminds me of shopping back in the 70s when times were tough. Mom gathered every grocery flyer and circled the items that were on sale for each store. I guess there were really only 2 or 3 stores to choose from where we lived, Publix, Winn-Dixie, and Choose-n-Lose (our nickname for Pic-n-Sav). Publix was the furthest from our house, so shopping trips there had to be done only if we had another errand in that direction. She tried hard to get only the sale items, but there are always other things you need to get that aren’t on sale. We often did without, or stretched whatever we did have on hand.

Based on my regular purchases Publix is 20% higher on pretty much everything. People pay for those BOGOs in the long run. And Walmart pickup is the best thing since sliced bread to me. Pro tip: everything they have in Walmart is available for pickup, not just groceries.
