I think Joe is his “own man,” meaning that Obama is out of the picture. I also get the picture that Joe has recuperated from his aneurysm or stroke and is getting back to his snarky self.
Check out the video of O’s Obama-care celebration, in the meet’n’greet Joe’s is seen panting after O, and O’s reaction suggests that he can’t stand Joe, and can’t quite conceal his contempt. VP Chlamydia is front and center as well, looking like the sociable cheerleader who blew the whole varsity team.
I agree with you, Joe is one mean, cheap little bastard who feels he never got his due. “Nobody f’s with a Biden” Now he’s out for his due He wants a big tombstone and a story for the bards to tell.

I read a SF novel, many years ago, early 70’s when I was a teenager, abut a future where the government wanted a guy to do something (for them) he did not want to do.
He had every ‘right’ to refuse, as he was a private citizen, but the government had their ways to make him cooperate.
There was no ‘cash’ in this future, all ‘money’ was electronic ‘credits’ that were tracked and spent with your WATCH! (Apple and others iWatch?) The user just put the watch next to a reading device and the number of credits was subtracted from the total, in a central banking system. The watch had several functions, news, text messages, entertainment, music, etc.
All the government had to do was turn off the ‘credits’ part until he submitted to their desire.................
