Leftist Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, also known as AMLO, threatened the Republican Party during a press conference on Thursday for wanting to use the U.S. military to destroy the nation’s powerful multi-billion dollar drug cartels.
Obrador’s remarks come as Republican lawmakers and top former officials, like former Attorney General William Barr, have called for using the U.S. military in recent weeks to put an end to the billions of dollars worth of drugs pouring into the U.S., which are responsible for tens of thousands of deaths per year. The cartels made $13 billion last year from human smuggling alone.
The remarks from lawmakers come after four Americans were kidnapped in Mexico this week and two of them ended up being murdered.
“We establish our position at once: we are not going to allow any foreign government to intervene, much less the armed forces of a foreign government, to intervene in our territory,” he declared at a press conference. “And starting today, we are going to initiate an information campaign (aimed at) Mexicans who live and work in the United States, and all Hispanics, to inform them about what we are doing in Mexico and how this initiative from the Republicans, besides being irresponsible, is an offense against the people on Mexico.”

It was a case of mistaken identity-4 people kidnapped-2 people were killed, the other 2 were found alive and are recovering. The perpetrators were apparently members of los carteles who thought those tourists were Haitian drug dealers-Haitians are black-like all those Haitians that swim the river along with the central Americans, etc to come over here illegally. Any time Americans get kidnapped/killed over there, politicians do get upset along with all the rest of us-it doesn’t really matter what race or ethnic group they are from-they are Americans who were harmed in a foreign country for no reason...

I’ve been out of the truck driving business for a decade, but to the best of my knowledge no US based carrier delivers to Mexico. I don’t know of a US driver stupid enough to take a half million dollars worth of freight and truck into what is basically a completely corrupt narco state. Then the driver has to consider his/her own life. Not worth it.
Commerce between the US and Mexico is done at warehouses on the US side of the border. US carriers deliver to a Mexican run warehouse in, say, El Paso, TX. The Mexican warehouse has their own Mexican employees who get bussed in daily to unload from the US truck and reload onto a Mexican truck. Mexican driver takes it from there.
To show you how much attention the Mexican shippers pay to Quality Control, I once delivered a load of butter to El Paso headed to Mexico City. I had to wait half the day for the Mexican driver to arrive. When he arrived he was pulling a dry van, no temp control at all. In the summer. You can imagine what shape that butter was in by the time it hit MC.
IF the border wall gets built I have no confidence that later administrations won’t cut big holes in it and let it decay.

He is going to introduce legislation designating cartels as terrorist threats and push for using the US military to fight them.
If the US military is used in US territory, it is martial law inside the US with Americans in border states in the cross fire. If used in Mexico, it will turn Mexico into the largest guerrilla war the world has seen in a hundred years.
Graham loves the ideal of starting wars. He has no clue how to fight or win them.

War with Mexico is probably going to happen, maybe 10, 20, 50 years down the road, but the wheels are in motion that make it inevitable.

Simply put, I believe many of those invading our southern border are terrorists who will organize into cells and cause havoc throughout the United States. Many of us will shoot back.
The Republicans should use this *threat* as campaign marketing.

Corruption follows money and there is an enormous two way river of money flowing from and to Mexico and the USA. How many in Washington are getting their beaks wet with Mexican payoffs?
