Steve Bannon shredded Elon Musk on Friday night, calling the Tesla CEO a “complete phony” who is beholden to the communist regime in China.
Appearing on Tim Pool’s podcast, Bannon was asked about Musk tweeting that he’s “open to the idea” of acquiring Silicon Valley Bank, which went under this week in spectacular fashion. It is the second-largest bank failure in U.S. history.
Bannon threw buckets of cold water on any such acquisition:
He’s owned by the Chinese Communist Party. What are you talking about? Tesla, the only thing of real value is Tesla. He uses it for margin loans. He sells the stock. The Shanghai joint venture is a hundred percent controlled by the CCP. This is why he never goes after the CCP. This is why he always backs off. This is when they had the protest, they had the protest about the lockdowns of Covid. He will not do it.
Elon Musk is a total and complete phony. He is in bed and his business partner–he’s done some good stuff… It’s fine. But, he is owned lock, stock, and barrel by the Chinese Communist Party, and he acts like it.
A clip of Bannon’s remarks was retweeted by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who was also a guest on Friday’s show.

If you actually care about CCP control, you need to be concerned about Musk.
I disagree and, although Musk is tied to his investment in China, it is not ruling him, at all.

Bannon’s jumping the shark here. Condemning a guy who is fighting harder than anyone, anywhere, for free speech, and whose wit is driving the Left crazy almost daily?

I do think Musk has to “be careful” in how he approaches China which is not good. He obviously needs a lot of what they have so yes, he is compromised. But he’s still done a lot of good. I’ll take it where I can get it.
What would Bannon do if he had acquired a platform that contained millions of communications between the left or even the right? The types of communications that would take their pants down? Would he release these communications at great peril to himself? Would he pay way too much money to acquire the information?

The Musk fanboys on this thread have been misled. For proof that Musk is controlled by his Chinese Communist Party financiers, look to how few anti-CCP advocates he has allowed back on Twitter. Elon Musk has never been a conservative, and he isn’t ever going to support conservatives over liberals. At best he might be neutral on a given issue, but his deeply-held Transhumanist religion won’t allow him to ever do more than that to support MAGA conservatives.
Bannon, one of the good guys, a Trump stalwart (even though Trump fired him) and a virulent hater of the CCP, and a hater of all things AI, has never liked Musk.
so he’s very biased against the guy. so i can forgive him for perhaps that blindness. i don’t take his opinion seriously on Musk. his predictions about Musk and twitter have all gone acropper, which probably hurt his pride. but, ultimately he could be right about Musk. who knows the heart of all these elites?
but, i say so far so good. Musk has been a real blessing to the conservative movement.
Why doesn’t Steve illuminate whom the mass of the GOP is corrupted by as they do virtually nothing while their constituents are reduced to second class citizens?
I’m not a Bannon fan ever since he swore to be “on the ground” during the AZ election “as long as it takes.” He said he was flying out after his Saturday show and would be on Charlie Kirk’s show. He lied.
