True enough! Just making an observation of the use of language. Instead of "it's raining", we now have a "rain event". Instead of a "snowstorm" or "an arctic cold front moving in" we have a "polar vortex" ... ooohhh, that's far more scary.

Not diminishing in any way what's been going on out here (particularly in Placer County where I am) since Christmas, I just find this "hyper language" a bit amusing. Cheers!

Places where flooding wipes people out for the third time always annoy me. Occasionally, the weather on the Oregon coast will let you know why nobody ever built a house on a certain tract of land. There are very pleasant, riverside fields, not far from here. I remember when every steep gulley upstream was scoured out by rain, and decades of forest/ logging debris ended up in an 8 foot deep, and hundreds of feet long tangle of potential firewood. And if it hadn’t stopped there, it would have taken out a bridge
