Donald Trump: I’d have let Putin annex part of Ukraine to end the war
The Telegraph ^ | March 9, 2023 | Nick Allen

Posted on 03/09/2023 10:56:57 PM PST by familyop

The former president told Sean Hannity’s radio show:...Mr Trump added: “That’s without even negotiating a deal. I could have negotiated. At worst, I could have made a deal to take over something, you know, there are certain areas that are Russian speaking areas, right, like, but you could have worked a deal. And now Ukraine is just being blown to smithereens.”

I was thinking more of the change in weaponry in 85 years and how that SHOULD change the entire concept of war.

Now, if you lose, you’re dead, and if you win you’re dead. In fact civilization is dead. Oh yes and the planet is dead.

But hey let’s do it anyway. At least nobody got to push us around.

So you don’t believe in the existence of the Judenrats?
A judenrat was anything from a Jewish leader in one of the Jewish ghettos to the Jews who worked for the Waffen SS in the camps cutting hair, shining shoes or loading bodies into the crematorium.
At the end of the war nearly 150,000 mustered out of the German military. Many of them from the Waffen SS.

Are you a Holocaust denier as well?
The Holocaust really happened.

I learned about the Jews in the German military long before the internet was a gleam in some nerds eye.
How? By reading books written by the men and women who lived through it. By listening to the men who liberated the camps and learning from them.

So exactly what have I posted that is kooky nonsense?

Giving Putin enough slivers to meet his stated concerns is not appeasement. Giving all of the Ukraine, which I would not have done, would be appeasement.

My priority is minimal harm in any situation.
The alternative right now is a possible nuclear war. I don’t view that option as the lesser of options.

alexander_busek: Resisting an armed invasion and large-scale land seizure is not "provocation" or "escalation."

Right_Wing_Madman: In late March 2022, Turkey had negotiated a tentative peace deal between Ukraine and Russia to end the war that was only a month old, but Blinken and Boris Johnson told Ukraine they could not provide guarantee security guarantees under its terms. This was a terrible response from the US and UK , has led to the destruction of Ukraine, and certainly qualifies as "escalation."

How so would it have been a "terrible response?"

Declining to provide a guarantee (because it may have been imprudent, short-sighted, or otherwise unfeasible to do so) hardly constitutes an "escalation."

Any behavior of the West and/or Ukraine - perceived by Russia as "unfriendly" or even "provocative" - is orders of magnitude less than Russia's behavior.

Any "unfriendly" or "provocative" behavior which Russia (or you) might care to try to ascribe to the West and/or Ukraine subsequent to Russia's Pearl Harbor-style surprise attack against Ukraine pales in comparison with Russia's belligerent and criminal behavior.

Regards,

I think it's kooky nonsense... That's just my opinion and opinions on this forum are free, thus the term 'Free Republic'.

The conflict in the Ukraine does present us with a naZi like regime, invading and fighting a non-Nazi like regime... And Putin is more closely associated with Nazi like tactics than Zelensky is.

Add to that Ruzzian propaganda from Putin's foreign minister Sergei Lavrov, banding about the well proven falsehood that Hitler was 'part Jewish' and that... "Wise Jewish people say that the most ardent anti-Semites are usually Jews." and I think it's safe to say that it sounds very much like you have been suckered by Ruzzian misinformation... Then again... Maybe you haven't been.

We all have our own opinions.

Here is another link I picked up at your link at #25.

https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2022/03/20/7332985/

This link reports a group of elite Russians who plan to replace Putin and restore economic ties with Europe.

If I remember correctly we were part of an agreement to return all the Ukraine nukes to Russia in exchange for promising to protect Ukraine indepemdemce. I seem to recall that Russia was part of that agreement which they have so vilely ignored.

I thought George Washington Zelensky was their supreme leader? Did we not install him as leader? Would he have a say or would it be whatever BiteMe told him to do?

If we go by your premise only the US and NATO have the authority to negotiate for the Ukraine. If they are smart the Ukraine would be studying the years 1971-1975 US-South Vietnam relationship to see their future.

If the Ukraine has no say what’s the point of this war?

“Just a realignment of territory where Russia has a legitimate concern about it’s ethnic people.”

Where have you seen any sign that Russia, which for now is all Putin, has exercised any legitimate concern for his people. He only considers his people the white Russians west of the Urals. He is doing his best to feed all other Russians into the meat grinder since they are not his people. He is just like Hitler for whom only the Aryans were German, which is why he murdered at least 10 million other Germans.

Putin still has a way to go to hit 10 million, but he is already over 100,000.

Since you've rejected the possibility of a negotiated settlement, before or during the war, I'll return to my original question at the beginning of this thread: how do you intend to finish what you started? Truman and LBJ faced this problem during their wars and couldn't solve the riddle.

You’re arguing for appeasement. Just a sliver IS appeasement.

Since you've rejected the possibility of a negotiated settlement, before or during the war [...]

Where, for heaven's sake, did I ever reject the possibility of a negotiated settlement?! On the contrary, I would very much welcome an immediate negotiated settlement.

Of course, some of the minor conditions of such a settlement might not sit well with you, e.g.: Russia immediate withdraws all of its military forces; Russia admits culpability for a "war of aggression;" Russia surrenders Putin to an international war tribunal; etc.

I'll return to my original question at the beginning of this thread: how do you intend to finish what you started?

Again with the false imputations! Putin started this - by suddenly attacking peaceful Ukraine.

Putin started this - by suddenly attacking peaceful Ukraine.

The war between Ukraine and the DPR and LPR since has been ongoing since 2014. Here's an adequate summary of it:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_in_Donbas_(2014%E2%80%932022)

Russia immediate withdraws all of its military forces; Russia admits culpability for a "war of aggression;" Russia surrenders Putin to an international war tribunal; etc.

Russia would never agree to these terms, especially now, given their position on the battlefield. The whole point of a negotiated solution is that both sides have to agree to it (like the NFL's CBA), not your unrealistic fantasies about how it should look like. I would need to fire you from my diplomatic team.

So that leaves war as the solution (sucks, but here we are). You've morally condemned Russia and its leadership and feeling pretty good about yourself. Now what? Russia has over a half million troops in Ukraine (that's a really big number, I guess they're serious about this). They're better armed, better fed, and their defensive positions are better fortified than they were six months ago when Surovikin took command.

This is the tried and mostly true Trump way

He will never fight. He doesn’t know how to fight.

He will however try to make a deal. This time he is talking a deal about other people’s property and maybe their freedom.

He was a truly great President and may be again

I’m arguing for least harm, by allowing his concerns to be met. If you want to call that appeasement, call it appeasenent.

We didn’t choose appeasement and now Ukraine is gone and millions may be dead. Congrats, you stood up to Putin.

Call it whatever you want, it’s still appeasement.
