Good Bless You both! (Sounds like he has, so far...)
My ‘rule’ is that I bundle up and walk every morning if it’s above freezing. My Beagle loves the routine and always scares up a rabbit or two on our walks.
If you do nothing else, walking is so important for so many health reasons.
In your mid-60’s isn’t too late to get another dog. (I’m 62) I adopted two elderly Lady Basset Hounds a few years back. They were already 11 and 12 years old, but they had some of the best years of their lives on our farm, no doubt. They were City Dogs and had never been off-leash.
At least we’re all still off-leash, LOL!
All my dog’s are off Leash and I lived in the Big City Chicago, and now I am in Springfield, Illinois.
Why? That’s how I grew up. My dad was the supreme ALPHA, infact he raised a bunch of ALPHAS! Sarcasm was our communication of coice. It was survival of the fittest. ( That’s why I adore TRUMP)
But, going back to the dog story, My expectation is for my dog to listen to me, yeah, once in awhile they act up, but for the most part they know who the boss is! And we spoil them to death, so they are happy to listen. Except Sammie who lived to be 20. He had schnauzer in him and I learned 1 thing, SCHNAUZERS are ALWAYS the BOSS!!
