I maintain that the US did not do this, for many political reasons, and because it would be a strategic blunder

That's not an argument. woke, neocon idiots in Washington DC specialize in that. And they've just made their biggest blunder yet.

Just want to throw this out there: I see a lot of people sneering about the technical diving etc they seem to think would be necessary for having blown up those pipelines, then making inferences based upon what they perceive to be difficulty of doing so.

I work for a US based private non-profit company with about 40 employees. (Nothing sinister- we're ultimately in the agriculture sector; I just don't want to state too many details to protect my own privacy). We have an ROV that could've done the job easily enough, and have had it for at least 10 years. We let people use it after all of about 8 hours of training.

My run of the mill, outdated $400 Garmin sonar system on my 18 ft skiff can track 1.5" lines down the bottom in deeper water than the sabotaged section of pipeline is in (I know because I've done it before to find anchors on the bottom, which are, again, smaller than the pipelines in question).

Locating and placing explosives on pipelines like this does not require the resources of a state actor.

I'm not endorsing any particular theory about what happened. I just want to point out that a lot, if not most, people seem to think this was harder than it really was. I don't know about acquiring or smuggling explosives in Europe, but outside of that, a small group of people (less than a dozen) with a budget of a couple hundred thousand dollars or less could've done this with publicly available technology at least a decade ago...

Keep in mind that Germany has existed for hundreds of years without Russian Gas. Germany is making do.

Russia on the other hand is withering with the loss of all income but especially the sales of gas and oil. As time goes by the withering worstens. Russia has tried to remedy the situation but in geeral has failed. The inability to deliver severely restricts sales. The delivery by tanker is badly hampered by the fact that many of the tankers are sanctioned and thus un available. Further, Turkey has closed the egress from the Black Sea to tankers lacking proper marine insurance. All the reputable insurers have sanctioned Russia.

So, all in all, the result is bad news for Putin

A Democrat administration hands their mouthpiece a line of BS to get the onus off them that they blew up the pipeline and the Times dutifully reports the disinformation as “as an undisclosed source”. What else is new?

“… A USA spy plane flew from the US, refueled over the south of Italy, loitered till planes cleared the area and flew over where the pipeline blew up and flew back to the USA without stopping….”
******************************************************************************

I remember that. It flew from CONUS (stopped in Iceland for refueling) to the Baltic Sea where it met up with an American aerial refueling tanker from Germany and circled long enough to take on a FULL load of fuel. It subsequently flew to the precise spot where the explosions occurred a short time later and then returned to CONUS.

I seriously doubt the Ukrainians had the military capability to blow up the Nord Stream Pipeline. True they could have recruited some mercenaries with the capability, but I find that far fetched as well as it would have been hard for some free lance group to complete the job undetected. The destruction of the pipeline was a military operation conducted by a highly capable military force and only a few military powers have that type of capability.

This article 5 discussion is going to erupt in a massive way around Germany now. There were already around 20-percent of the public who were anti-Ukraine/pro-Russia, and this just pushes people along to a new conclusion.

Whole thing is staged. So many holes, and then the story falls out of the air into the lap of the NY Times? Yeah...sure.

Your LNG price chart is dated. It is from May 2022. LNG and natural gas prices are way down since then, in the US and Europe.

Russian pipeline gas was coming into Germany at the price equivalent of $25 barrel of oil. But how could Germany/Europe keep buying cheap Russian gas, after Russia invades a European nation called Ukraine? This would be crazy. Ukraine is European and wants to align even more European. Same as Poland does. Align in trade and politically. This is what rat face Vlad could not handle

Excellent!

That's an act of War against Germany, so all NATO Allies must immediately go to War against Ukraine and offer Russia unlimited Arms and Ammunition free of charge.

The graph is a COMPARATIVE of pipeline nat gas costs vs LNG shipped in a tanker, based on the distances of the shipping and the lengths of the pipelines.

You get that, right?

The RATIO stays the same even as global prices fluctuate.

We do know that American SEALs have trained various Ukrainian Special Operations forces before the war.

Social engineering is sociopathy by sociopaths who have organized into so called "intelligence agencies" with unlimited budgets and no accountability or oversight.

What could possibly go wrong?

The Ukrainian Navy would have counted this as an amazing victory if they had ever actually operated in the Baltic.

What a load of manure. Who came right out and said the pipeline would be taken out if Russia invaded? Ukraine? Nope. Russia? Nope. Hmmm, who was it? Oh right, Biden did. Its that simple.

And the neocons and warcons gobbled up this horse dung from the US government like it was manna from heaven! Why the US intelligence agencies and military would never ever lie about anything according to them. The US military or possibly the Brits blew that pipeline up to force Europe to continue this war that no one wants but the USA. Continue to the fight or we cut off your energy imports from us, some friend we are...
