Leaders from the world's poorest nations poured out their disappointment and bitterness at a UN summit on Sunday over the treatment of their countries by richer counterparts.
Many made pointed calls for the developed powers to come good with billions of dollars of promised aid to help them escape poverty and battle climate change.
Central African Republic's president told the UN Least Developed Countries meeting in Doha that his resource-rich but impoverished nation was being "looted" by "Western powers".
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres followed up an attack he made a day earlier on the "predatory" interest rates imposed by international banks on poor states.
He said there could be "no more excuses" for not providing aid.
Leaders of the world's major economies have been markedly absent from debate, which will last five days, on the turmoil in poor nations.
At a meeting with LDC leaders on Saturday Guterres called for $500 billion to be mobilised for social and economic transformation.
Leaders also used the first day of public debate to renew demands that industrialised governments hand over a promised $100 billion a year to support their efforts to counter global warming.

Raining money down on them will only help the well-connected get rich. The thing you need to advance is a social need to better yourself. This comes from your culture. For the most part, if people are poor it’s because of something inside them. Dirt people came to America and worked hard every day. They were different from the dirt-poor people who come here today for the welfare. They will be a multigenerational cost to society.
When I was a child, I asked my mother if we were poor. We were eating mostly potatoes which my mother fixed in countless ways. Nonetheless, they were potatoes. She said, “We are not poor. But we don’t have much money. The difference is what money we have I spend on food. Poor people will spend their last dime on cigarettes and beer. Poor people are poor because they are poor inside.” She tapped my head when she said, “inside.”
Giving them money encourages them not to work.
If they actually have exploitable natural resources and provided a stable environment for Western corporations to extract some of those natural resources, they would be wealthy, not impoverished. (I'm guessing that they use some of the same economic advisers as the Biden administration.)

Annandale that is what it’s all about- not climate change, but rather taking mo ey from rich nations, by force, and giving it to nations so that they can be rich like us.
Only problem is that only their dictator leaders,and ilk will become rich. The poor apparently think they have a right to other people’s money, and if they don’t get it, they get mad evidently.
“Climate Change” is just the latest scam to transfer money from countries that through work and initiative EARNED their money to lazy and backward and corrupt countries that didn’t.
