Russia's defense minister made a rare visit to Ukraine, his ministry said Saturday, as his forces closed in on Bakhmut, the eastern city that has come to embody Kyiv’s resistance against Vladimir Putin's invasion.

Sergei Shoigu inspected troops at a forward command post in the eastern Donetsk region, Russia's Defense Ministry said in a Telegram post, adding that Shoigu also presented several awards.

“It’s over”

Exactly. The only reason to go there is because the Ukrainians are at the Gates of Moscow.

I've noted that you jumped from daily pro China Virus postings to pro Ukraine war threads.

The Russians will eventually get the regions that they’ve always coveted.

Whether by war or by truce, Russia will gain those regions.

It’s a cold, hard reality.

Both sides are corrupt communist factions with Ukraine being flat out corrupt.

Again, noting your pro China Virus stance change to pro war stance.

“...The Russians will eventually get the regions that they’ve always coveted...”

Nice fatalistic thinking there Mohammed. I admire the Ukrainians because they fight with spirit. Doomsayers are a dime a dozen.

Do those regions they’ve coveted, include all of America or just Alaska? Should we just lay down since it is just a matter of cold hard reality?

Russia is rated as much more corrupt than Ukraine, and Ukraine is trying to fix theirs with international help.

How does Russia being much more corrupt than Ukraine affect your post?

Well, that’s clear as mud. Is there some explanatory text that is supposed to go along with that?

Looks like some have drank deeply of the Kool-Aid - being totally against spending our future on the Ukraine doesn’t make one “pro-Putin” - it makes one a realist...

To: Who is in charge?

Russia is and has been more corrupt than Ukraine.

Russia’s corruption is getting worse, while Ukraine’s rating on corruption is improving.

The post-war corruption fight will accelerate in Ukraine as it seeks to join international defense and trade organizations and live up to its new world image and sense of national pride, Russia will probably continue to get worse in regard to corruption.

In the past 500 years, Russia has been invaded several times from the west. The Poles came across the European Plain in 1605, followed by the Swedes under Charles XII in 1707, the French under Napoleon in 1812, and the Germans—twice, in both world wars, in 1914 and 1941.

In Poland, the plain is only 300 miles wide—from the Baltic Sea in the north to the Carpathian Mountains in the south—but after that point it stretches to a width of about 2,000 miles near the Russian border, and from there, it offers a flat route straight to Moscow.

Thus Russia’s repeated attempts to occupy Poland throughout history; the country represents a relatively narrow corridor into which Russia could drive its armed forces to block an enemy advance toward its own border, which, being wider, is much harder to defend.
