Cops quit woke Austin in droves, plunging Texas city into crisis: ‘If you’re conservative, it’s a hostile place’

Texas’ woke capital, Austin, is in the midst of a policing crisis with over 300 vacancies and cops quitting because they feel disrespected, multiple sources tell The Post.

“We’re right there with Portland and Seattle and San Francisco as being one of those places where if you’re at all conservative or in law enforcement, it’s become a hostile place,” Lt. Brian Moon, who retired last month, told The Post of the city he protected for 23 years.

Another 77 officers are expected to retire before the end of March — on top of 264 existing vacancies, according to the Austin Police Association.

Austin Police Department’s staffing is so bad, 911 calls are being redirected to the 311 non-emergency number because there aren’t enough cops to solve crimes.

“If you come home and find your home burglarized, calls like that are now going to 311,” said police union president Thomas Villarreal. “You’re not getting a police response to many property crimes if it’s not a violent crime that is currently ongoing.”

The beleaguered department has also pulled detectives from solving cases to act as patrol officers, Berry said.

Moody, a former watch commander, started working for the Austin Police Department in 1999 and says things have dramatically changed. In 2021, the city recorded a record 88 homicides and although that number decreased in 2022, the first six months of the year saw dramatic increases in the number of rapes, with 179, and almost 2,000 aggravated assaults, according to local news site KAXN.

Ok there are surely droves of RINOs but Abbott has a Republican state House and Senate yet apart from being pushed into ocassional publicity stunts never appears to do very much that is substantive.

Burn, baby, burn.

Out of the ashes, will come a renewal, and sanity.

increases in the number of almost 2,000 aggravated assaults…..

Translation: Medical advances saved some of those. Those that would have otherwise been classified as murders.

If I had a criminal urge, I’d be headed for Austin. Land of opportunity!

No Worries. Any increase in crime will just be categorized as ‘reparations.’ (that way, they can state crime has not increased). Anyone complaining that they have been robbed will be labeled racist, against reparations. They will be sentenced to re-education, to get their mind right. It’s a Brave New World.

Austin will become the Reparations capital of the country. Come One, Come All! Bring your largest satchel, and cruise up and down the isles of every Walgreens, CVS, and take whatever you desire. When all the stores close, the neighborhoods with ‘too much’ will be next.

From what I have read, Austin has been weird for some time.

But, I’m betting that ALL of this, if people were honest, could be traced back to Perry and his traipsing around the country and the world luring companies, any company, to move to Texas.

And of course, it’s all about tech companies, because every politician knows liberal tech people are the only ones a municipality or state needs.

Wasn’t it Perry that ran his mouth that they’d all become Texans?

Look at Nashville. That place is absolutely nothing like it was 10 years ago.

Sadly, way too many “Red State” governments believe and welcome that BS and ruin their states.

Look no further than Georgia…..DONE

As so many felony crimes are being reduced down to misdemeanors in plea deals, democrat-led cities are able to lower their crime statistics to make it appear crime has gone down in their cities.

On a side note, I’ve noticed many university towns have convinced their local newspapers to discontinue their “police blotter” reporting so that potential students and their parents are not fully aware of the crime levels in the nearby areas near campus. It used to be you could review those articles for information as to what part of town to avoid when renting.

Cities are simply covering up their repeat criminals’ actions and pretending they have reduced crime. They haven’t. They are just not reporting on it or prosecuting the thugs for their acts. Think of all the horrific crimes you have read of and the rap sheets of the perpetrator. All crimes for which they served either no, or very little, time in prison for committing. Criminal realize that in cities they will suffer very little repercussions for their acts so that is where they go to steal, rape, assault, and murder.

Nashville and Austin are twins

Austin slightly larger like maybe 3%

More western vibe

Nashville more hilly

“We’re right there with Portland and Seattle and San Francisco as being one of those places where if you’re at all conservative or in law enforcement, it’s become a hostile place,”

Are there any places in America that are outright hostile to leftists? Because I want to go there.

Abbot has suggested that Texas DPS could take over Austin if APD, weakened by the city council, can’t protect the city, but DPS already has Biden’s cartels on its plate.

The bad news for Texas is that there are cities in the state with high rates of crime.

I was a cop some time ago.

The report forms had a block where officers provided a simple description of what they were reporting: victim robbed at gun point….victim shot….etc.

We were directed to keep that block blank at one point so someone else could fill it in. I later learned that the information in that particular block was used for the cities UCR requirements.

So, a Battery(assault with visible injury) could be classified as a Simple Batrery(assault w no visible injury). Great way to lower the crime rate.
