“….The U.S. announced a new $400 million military aid package for Ukraine on Friday that for the first time includes armored vehicles that can launch bridges — allowing troops to cross rivers or other gaps as Russian and Ukrainian forces remain entrenched on opposite sides of the Dnieper River…. This round of aid will be drawn from existing U.S. weapons stockpiles so it can arrive in Ukraine faster. The U.S. and allies are trying to rush additional support to Kyiv to best position it for intensified spring fighting…..
Ukraine blew up 2 bridges yesterday.
“Anyone see something terribly wrong with this? Depleting the US supply, again, ‘taken from existing stocks’”
You probably are not used to such things in Russia, delta7, but here in the US military we have what is known as built-in redundancy. So, sending some items from existing supplies does not mean we are putting ourselves at any military disadvantage. In any event, “to deplete” means to use up the stocks of an item. We are not using up the stocks of anything. Though I’m sure you wish we were.
PART 1: My friend @Noggatone confronted @anneapplebaum, who is a board member of the @NEDemocracy and rabid pro-Ukrainian nut-job, on the issue of Sy Hersh, Nord Stream, and her Husband thanking the US after the pipeline was blown up. “We are not using up the stocks of anything”.
Where are the bridges coming from?
I agree. The Ukrainians should requisition bridging equipment from their most reliable supplier of tanks and armored vehicles; Russia.
Yeah—I am so confused—are we building bridges to blow them up later....this is kinda like the Vietnam strategy—destroy the village to save it...
And it’s time for a joke:
Vladimir Putin was being briefed by one of his top generals.
“I’ve good news and bad news for you this morning, sir.”
“Let’s hear the good news,” Putin replied.
“Intelligence reports indicate that the latest additions to the Ukranian arsenal are damaged and outdated, and many won’t pose any threat to us at all.”
“That’s excellent! Finally, things might be starting to turn our way! What’s the bad news?”
The general shifted in his seat and looked down at the table. “A large amount of our best weapons and munitions have just been captured, sir.”

Full-rate production is scheduled to start in 2019 and expected to be completed by May 2024.[9] The M1074 JABS will replace the M60 AVLB and M104 Wolverine on a one-for-one basis in the United States Army, Army National Guard and Marine Corps.

During the Cold War, the M60A1 AVLB was deployed to West Germany with US Army Combat Engineer units in support of NATO, notably during annual REFORGER exercises through 1991.[12] The US Army retired the M60 AVLB from combat use in 2003 and has been superseded by the M104 Wolverine.[7] As of 2018 the vehicle is still in service with the Army National Guard.[13]
Would assume the older ones in the national guard are the ones being given away.
I’ll ask you again: Where do the bridges come from?
“Where are the bridges coming from?”
Existing stores. But we are not depleting the existing stores. “Depleted” means “used up.”
“I’ll ask you again: Where do the bridges come from?”
Chill, Sparky. I answered you in less than ten minutes.
We should build them a bridge straight to oblivion for taking all of our money and our equipment so that we won’t be able to defend ourselves.
Janet Yellen over in Kiev handing out a couple of billion dollars to make sure they keep sending their men to the meat grinder.
People think some mobile bridges will help?
Poland signed an agreement with Washington in April 2022 to acquire 250 M1A2 SEPV3 main battle tanks, 26 M88A2 HERCULES and 17 M1074 Joint Assault Bridges.[17]
might be a redirect of the 17 that were to go to poland? or prior obsolete bridges in use by national guard.
Where do the bridges come from?
Hey Slick, when they are no longer in our possession and given to another country, they are no longer ours, so the stocks are depleted. You need some edumakating.
