A bird flu strain that claimed the life of a schoolgirl in Cambodia has evolved to better infect human cells, in a worrying sign.
Scientists on the ground who made the discovery said the finding 'needs to be treated with the utmost concern'.
They added that there were 'some indications' the virus had already 'gone through' a human and picked up the new mutations before infecting the girl.
The 11-year-old girl, from Prey Veng province, last week became the first victim of H5N1 in 2023. Her father has also tested positive for the virus but has not developed symptoms.

Let’s all panic and elect Dr. Fooksi dictator.
Gain of Function. From out of nowhere.
“mutated”
I wonder if it had help?
No one obsessing over covid much anymore, so bring on the next disease.
It was feared this animal-to-human transmission would happen. The question is, how are we going to defeat it?
OGNTSA
Gimme two weeks and I can flatten that curve.
A/Hanoi/97/H5N1 has been known to infect humans for 25 years.
At every Infectious Diseases meeting between 1998 and 2019, there was a session about the inevitability of a terrible pandemic arising from the “inevitable” mutation of this poultry virus into a human pathogen.
Now that the SARS CoV 2 roadbump is behind us, I expect most pandemic porn to return to this Influenza A variant.
And I bet our lizard overlords will magically have an mRNA “vaccine” ready for us.
A lot of libtards are going to get real excited about this.
You rang? Drug-Resistant Bacteria That Causes Stomach Bug Symptoms on the Rise, CDC Warns, 2/28/28
Of course, the CDC raised the same alarm EIGHT years ago and that fizzled out: Drug-Resistant Shigellosis Spreading: CDC
For a wholesome picture of the carriers, see the CDC Website: Shigella:
Shigella bacteria cause an infection called shigellosis. Shigella can spread easily from one person to another—and it only takes a small amount of Shigella to cause illness. Learn how Shigella spreads and why some people have a greater chance of getting sick.
Quick everybody get your safe and effective boosters. Uh, 🔬🤔😵🚫😷💉🐎💩
Probably funded by Fauci and company.
The normal vector for that type of infection is the upper respiratory tract. Getting that poison injected into your body is bypassing the natural first line of defense, and allows that garbage to circulate throughout your body.
When this first started, I remember reading a very impressive analysis of these shots and the underlying “technology”, along with warnings about the unknown effects that could occur from this “approach”. I wish I still had the link.
“The question is, how are we going to defeat it?”
Since we have never once “defeated” any of the multitude of influenza strains that have infected humans, the smart money says we won’t. It will spread, and mutate, and follow the path of every other respiratory virus to become more infectious and less deadly, since that’s the only viable evolutionary path to success for such an organism.
Worldwide, shigellosis is a huge problem, kills a fair number of people (70K-600K/year). It’s ancient, nothing new, was considered a variant of Salmonella until Dr. Kiyoshi Shiga identified it in 1897.
The gene for its toxin (Shiga toxin) can be spread between bacteria of different species, and infection of E. coli with the toxin gene causes enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC) infections.
Has anyone ever called you a gullible idiot?
