‘Decline Is A Choice’: DeSantis Releases New Ad Rallying Conservatives To Fight For Freedom
Daily Wire ^ | 26 Feb 23 | Daily Wire

Posted on 02/27/2023 4:03:57 AM PST by Erik Latranyi

Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis released a new digital ad Sunday night rallying conservatives to fight for freedom ahead of a potential 2024 presidential run.

“When the world lost its mind… when common sense suddenly became an uncommon virtue… Florida was a refuge of sanity, a citadel of freedom for our fellow Americans and even for people around the world,” DeSantis said in the nearly two-minute video.

The ad features numerous major figures at Fox News — including Laura Ingraham, Jesse Watters, Dana Perino, and Lisa Boothe — touting DeSantis’ repeated successes while serving as the governor of Florida.

“Florida’s success has been made more difficult by the floundering federal establishment in Washington, DC., an inflationary spending binge that has left our nation weaker and our citizens poorer,” DeSantis says later in the video. “It has enacted pandemic restrictions and mandates. It has recklessly facilitated open borders. It has imposed an energy policy that has crippled our nation’s domestic production. This has caused many to be pessimistic about the country’s future. Some even say that failure is inevitable. Florida is proof positive that we the people are not destined for failure.”

DeSantis continues by highlighting the wins that his administration has secured in the state, including becoming the fastest growing state in the country, ranking #1 in education freedom, ranking #1 in economic freedom, and ranking #1 in higher public education.

“Decline is a choice. Success is attainable,” DeSantis concludes. “And freedom is worth fighting for.”

I DID read your full post. And it would have made a lot of sense if the measures taken by government and business leaders actually could have been effective in stopping the spread of a disease.

I posted as much right here on FR back then. This might be almost an exact quote that I posted on multiple threads ... Nobody will ever convince me that the government sees COVID as a major health threat as long as the New York City subway system is still running.

Trump is not a conservative.

He is a narcissistic populist.
He was great in 2016.

2020 changed him.

He is now bitter, not funny and randomly attacking people who never attacked him.

Trump’s time is over.

“They didn’t even cancel professional sports seasons, NCAA basketball tournaments, etc. during World War II.”

That’s not fully true. MLB was basically out, and much racing was shut down although certainly not all (Santa Anita closed and they used it for what? Housing Japs in concentration camps.).

It did seem to be up to the organizations about what to do, though. Not everything was fully stopped for sure.

Personally I say we never should bother with all this junk as long as they’re allowing ILLEGALS crossing over by the thousands any given day!

If they cared, they’d want to keep out any extra vectors!

I’m not sure you’ve made your point here. But, by all means, keep trying.

“Willful ignorance”— those are some big words that, unfortunately, mean nothing. Riddle me this: So RDS spent 2022 running to be Govenor for the next 4 years but behind the scenes was working with the likes of Paul Ryan to craft his 2022 race and policies to appeal to a certain demographic, like Youngkin did, not just to be for Governor for 4 years, but was really running for President and while he is saying that he will serve the people of FLA for the next 4 years when he will actually be running for Pres.and is working with the legislature to change the laws so he doesn’t have to resign while running for Pres. Wow. That’s a mouthful, earful and head full. I’d be hopping mad on many levels if I voted for him to be Gov until 2028 and he’s off to take a Federal job. It says loud and clear that he was lying the entire time he was running for Gov abd saying he was doing so to serve the people of Florida. Not a trustworthy guy in my opinion.

Don’t you dare tell me I’m re -writing history—a sneak way of calling me a liar. Trump absolutely on a number of occasions, said as much and not on Twitter—in press conferences.
You might want to learn history before you accuse others of re-writing it.

If he was crafting his policies with the likes of Paul Ryno, that’s just another reason for him to stay down here.

Your attacks on DeSantis, in your continued attempts to prop up Trump, ring completely hollow when you go back and look at what was happening at the time.

Take this article for example. DeSantis was AGAINST the lockdowns, and clearly only followed Trump’s guidance, and Trump was praising DeSantis effusively for doing it. This has been pointed out to you multiple times before yet you keep insisting DeSantis not Trump was responsible for the lockdowns. Try to commit it to permanent memory this time:

After talk with Trump, Florida reverses course on coronavirus stay-at-home order

https://abcnews.go.com/Health/talk-trump-florida-reverses-coronavirus-stay-home-order/story?id=69926173

President Donald Trump had direct praise for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at a press conference Tuesday: “Great governor. Knows exactly what he’s doing.” Trump hailed Florida’s response to the novel coronavirus outbreak as he answered a question about the Republican’s resistance to issuing statewide stay-at-home restrictions for Floridians.

DeSantis has developed a close relationship with the president and the two speak frequently.

DeSantis said he spoke with the president and other White House officials about Wednesday’s decision to order Floridians to stay at home, prior to the announcement.

From the beginning of the coronavirus spread in the U.S., DeSantis faced scrutiny over what some critics have described as a lackadaisical approach to restricting gatherings and ordering the closing of various businesses as some other states were quicker to do so.

Last month, when photographs of crowded beaches filled with spring breakers emerged, the governor left the decision to close beaches to local municipalities.

Prior to the reversal, when specifically asked about DeSantis not issuing a stay-at-home order, the U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams said on NBC that his “advice to America would be that these guidelines are a national stay at home order” as he held up the White House recommendations to slow the spread of the virus.

While Florida has lagged behind other states in their response, the state has received all of their requested supplies from the federal government within days of the request.

What changed in March of 2020 was that the entire country was in a full-blown psychotic hysteria over COVID.

Yet here you are attacking DeSantis for allowing Trump to talk him into lockdowns in Florida. What is your point? Trump is wrong, so don't listen to him? Even though he was the President, and the leader of the Republican Party, just give him the finger? Seems to be the takeaway of your posts.

Maybe in hindsight that does make some sense, but considering your strong support of Trump, it comes off more as a hypocritical boomerang attack you don't want to take to the logical conclusion.

Very nice.

I watched his interview with Levin last evening.

DeSantis is looking and sounding very presidential.

I agree with every word you wrote.

DeSantis is so much more temperate and thoughtful.

He engages his brain before his mouth.
