Former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev said on Friday that the only way for Moscow to ensure a lasting peace with Ukraine was to push back the borders of hostile states as far as possible, even if that meant the frontiers of NATO member Poland.

The agreement was a matter of diplomacy between Reagan and Gorbachev

So point to this "agreement'. Where is this written agreement or treaty? It does not exist as opposed to Russia signing the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, agreeing to "respect the independence and sovereignty and the existing borders of Ukraine” and “to refrain from the threat or use of force” against the country.

You need to research this on your own. That’s how people learn. Pay attention to Jim Baker and his “not one inch eastward” assurance about NATO expansion.

“too cowardly to fight for the cause you cheer for.”

So what’s your excuse?

I have posted this before. Russia today is following a pattern. After WWI, Russia lost Finland, the Baltics, its part of Poland, Moldova/Bessarabia and possibly bits and bobs elsewhere. In 1920 it tried to get back Poland but was beaten back. In 1940 it went after Finland and while failing to take it all back, got some.

In 1939 the USSR and Germany took back ‘their’ respective parts of Poland. After WWII the USSR was allowed to keep ‘its’ part of Poland as well as the Baltic nations. Naturally the USSR was allowed to keep Moldova after seizing it from Romania.

All of this was long before Putin started to repeat the pattern. A variation on the Brezhnev Doctrine, if it was ever ours it’s still really ours.

You had to go back all the way to 1949 to get that big scarry number.

[We went to war with Germany in 1917, over a Telegram.]

And ships getting sunk. Don’t forget the loss of shipping. Same reason we fought the Barbary pirates.

Ships getting sunk sending arms to Britain, and also sending good to Britain, while the Brits were imposing a Naval blockade on Germany.

The Russia elites have this delusional world view that the Americans/British have caused their neighbors to the west like Poland and Ukraine to hate Russians. The truth is that the Poles and Ukrainians have hated the Russians because of the numerous examples of aggression against them by the Russians of the last few centuries. This past year’s “special military operation” is just another example of this.

And be fair, Ukrainians did a lot of bad things to Poles during WWII (Watch the movie ‘Wołyn’, if you have the stomach for it).

But they’ve pretty much let bygones be bygones, except for the relatively few Banderists still out there.

You need to research this on your own

Right, so NO treaty or agreement limits NATO expansion(except for the GDR), otherwise you would provide one.

On a lighter note I am on the only one here who finds it unusual that Russia’s premier contract army is named same as Germany’s most famous classical composer?

“I’m a man of peace.”

Yet you cheer on the Russian genocide against Ukraine.
