I’m sorry that this 12 year old was shot. But this is a sad lesson that when you commit a crime, you put yourself at risk. There are no rules for how people are supposed to act when a crime is occurring. Sometimes things escalate in ways that aren’t expected and people die.

The father acts like the young black males are less violent then other criminals. He couldn't be more wrong. It's the young ones who will shoot you without hesitation. He should ask himself why his son was involved with illegal firearms and a stolen truck. The three perps are responsible for everything that happened to them. There are thousands of young black teens who go out to steal cars while carrying illegal firearms. It's been happening all the time in America's urban areas. If the father is looking to blame someone he should look in the mirror.
