All of the highly placed billionaires in Russia owe their position to Putin. Here’s the problem. The political situation has changed, and Putin has to pay off a new group who can do things for him. I suspect that the reason some of these guys have had their families killed also is because of inheritance. No kids, no wife, no inheritance. Putin gets to give his new and more useful “friends” the job, money and property of the old friends whose usefulness is at an end. Killing people has been on Putin’s agenda for a long time. I recall a reporter who ran several anti-Putin stories. She answered a knock at the door and was shot dead. There was no pretense about a suicide as the message was sent to all reporters that there would be no more anti-Putin stories.
Oligarchs tend to be allergic to nuclear wars. It messes up their lifestyle. Their protests, therefore, must be dealt with.

Note about BS propaganda and fake narratives. Putin is in a league all his own. Dems are past masters, and the MSM are the best liars money can buy. But Putin is an artist. Just consider that the fake narrative of Russian collusion was Russian mis-information, designed to foment internal dissent and unrest in the United States. And it did.
