"Tracing your ancestry is a lot of fun."

It sure is!

And, all this anti-America, anti-white, hate whitty crap of the last several years has only made me dig deeper into our family history (Northern states in the 1600's and mid west in the middle 1800's) and to join several lineage societies.

I disavow.

LOL! I'm related to a Brewster descendent. Also an American Indian from before the American Revolution and a founder of the settling of New York. People get around. And if the English ever pay reparations to the Potato Famine Irish, I'd have to write myself a check.

Yes, I remember that, but she is singularly unimpressive IMO. She thought because she was educated it made her smart. Sorry. But sometimes, ya just can’t fix Stupid.

George Washington, George Mason, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Patrick Henry were all Virginians.

vs

Hamilton from Jamaica, Franklin from Philly and John Adams from Boston.

Most of the intellectual horsepower behind the secession from the British Empire and the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were descendants of Jamestown. Jamestown was where America really began.

As an American Indian, I wouldn’t grant her tribal status.

Angela Davis was shocked to learn that her ancestors came to America on the Mayflower, making her descendants of people who helped found the country.

The civil rights activist learned about this news during the Feb. 21 episode of PBS’s Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. Gates shows her a manifest of names, eventually revealing that the document had the names of the Mayflower passengers.

The post Angela Davis Learns She Had Ancestors On The Mayflower In Recent ‘Finding Your Roots’ Episode appeared first on Blavity.

“No, I can’t believe this,” she said, laughing through her surprise. “My ancestors did not come here on the Mayflower.”

When asked how she felt about the news, Davis said, “…That’s a little bit too much to deal with right now.”

Watch the clip below. The full episode is available for streaming on PBS.

"Most of the intellectual horsepower behind the secession from the British Empire and the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were descendants of Jamestown"

Oh, but your choosing to ignore so many more of the intellectual and legal giants who helped found this country who were descendants of those who settled the north by way of the Mayflower, the Winthrop Fleet and others.

James Otis
Dr. Benjamin Rush
Charles Carroll
Elbridge Gerry
Gouverneur Morris
Roger Sherman
John Hancock
Samuel Adams
John Jay
And more of course.

Of the 56 who signed the Declaration of Independence, which founded our country, 35 of them were born in the north, 13 in the south and 8 in Europe.

Most of the legal horsepower that gave rise to our founding came from the north. Just because they aren't as famous in 2023, doesn't make it any less real.

Why Was the Mayflower Compact Important?

The Mayflower Compact was important because it was the first document to establish self-government in the New World. It remained active until 1691 when Plymouth Colony became part of Massachusetts Bay Colony.

The Mayflower Compact was an early, successful attempt at democracy and undoubtedly played a role in future colonists seeking permanent independence from British rule and shaping the nation that eventually became the United States of America."

The fact remains, the journey of Self Government here started with the Mayflower Compact.

I disagree on both counts. Not only were most of the leading Founding Fathers Virginians, but that colony was established for that most American of motives - making money. They were also first by over a decade.
