Around 17.5 million Ukrainians have left their country since the beginning of the war, with more than a million of them ending up in Germany. Some 80 percent of the adults are women. Just a few weeks after the beginning of the war, DER SPIEGEL spoke with some of them and collected their stories. Now, close to a year after they fled their home country, we reestablished contact with a number of these women to find out how they are faring, how they see their futures and what has changed for them now that it has become clear that the war won’t be ending anytime soon.

Roughly 40% of the entire population of the Ukraine has fled the country, 17.5 million refugees out of a population of 43,528,136 (2022 est.). The Biden Regime and the WEF reptiles are fighting to the last Ukrainian.

Why doesn't this feel like winning?

AND 10 million have returned since then, resulting in 8 million total refugees from Ukraine in Europe. Two sources:

"AND 10 million have returned since then, resulting in 8 million total refugees from Ukraine in Europe."

You are wearing your UN blue helmet tlozo. I trust Der Spiegel far more than the despicable UN and the IMF slush fund. Your love of globalist government structures is showing.

Der Spiegel is known in German-speaking countries for its investigative journalism. It has played a key role in uncovering many political scandals such as the Spiegel affair in 1962 and the Flick affair in the 1980s. According to The Economist, Der Spiegel is one of continental Europe's most influential magazines. The news website by the same name was launched in 1994 under the name Spiegel Online with an independent editorial staff.

DU is missing a rabid, leftist idiot.

Meanwhile reverse-racist Biden let 145 (not thousands…145 total) refugees from Ukraine come to the USA in Jan of this year.
Statista.com

Which to me makes it clear Biden has ulterior motives for our war support besides the suffering people of Ukraine.

17.5 million is a huge number. I am watching Ukraine Demographics and have never heard such a large number before.

Everyone should note - the 43 million claimed in MSM is a figure from 2001 - Ukraine’s last census. Since then

- Ukraine has had the lowest birthrate in Europe
- Ukraine has lost 300-500K per year in outward migration
- Ukraine has lost Crimea which has about 8 million people
- Ukraine has lost Donbas/Luhansk which had about 4-5 million people
- Conservative estimates are that Ukraine has lost 150K men killed and 450K wounded, and at least 20K civilians killed
- Most figures estimate that 8-9 million fled the country when the war started. about 7 million going west, and 2 million going East.

Rump Ukraine probably has <20 million people now - which in itself is highly skewed to middle and old-aged people.

US Neocon meddling, weapons and color-revolution have created ANOTHER failed state - just like Libya, Syria, Kosovo, Somalia, Iraq.

If one is saying Germany alone....there’s just over 1-million Ukrainians in Germany (majority are under the age of 18). That’s the gov’t number from early 2023, and it’s based on visa submissions.

Poland numbers (again what the gov’t says) is close to 3.2-million (Nov 2022 data).

I think a lot of people crossed the borders in early 2022, and probably a quarter of them have returned to the Ukraine.

I trust Der Spiegel

You seem to have a comprehension issue, both agree that 18 million Ukrainians left Ukraine, mostly women and children, but Der Spiegel doesn't mention the fact that 10 million refugees returned to Ukraine. After the Russian retreat(or according to you strategic withdrawal) from Kyiv, Kharkiv and Kherson many refugees returned home to Ukraine leaving 8 million still in Europe.

Der Spiegel is known in German-speaking countries for its investigative journalism.

Right, so you believe Der Spiegel is on the Ukrainian-Polish border counting Ukrainian refugees or are they just using numbers from the UN?

20% of the 17.5 million refugees are men which works out to 3.2 male Ukrainian refugees. I wonder when, not if, the Europeans will start rounding them up to deport back to the Ukraine to die.

You use the same tired Cold War rhetoric that America’s enemies have always used. The reality is Russian warmongering has created a humanitarian disaster in Ukraine. That’s why most all of Ukraine’s neighbors are supporting them in their fight against genocidal invasion of Ukraine committed by Russian Nazis.

lol no one will willingly return to the Ukraine. They finally got to Europe, which has social welfare and means they will never have to work.

You deceptively quoted just “I trust Der Spiegel” and left the context that followed out. I wrote “I trust Der Spiegel far more than the despicable UN and the IMF” which does not mean I fully trust Der Spiegel. I was comparing the trustworthiness of a news outlet to globalist institutions. What a typical leftist tactic to misquote and and deceive.

Neocons are lying scum. I don't mean that against you personally, or do I?

Right, so once again, is Der Spiegel counting refugees going each way at the Ukrainian-Polish border or are they relying on the "despicable UN"?

The ones that fled to the West are not pro-Russian ( willing to stop persecuting and dehumanizing Russian-speakers)

I have no idea what kind of “ Ukraine” would entice them to return.
The whole point of joining the EU for many, was to go work and live as Western Europeans. Where life is good and benefits abound

I might as well argue with a sack of hammers. I undertake this distasteful task because I am trying to sway intelligent people with an open mind that read our comment discussion. I am afraid that you will be a moron until the day you die.

Your response is a perfect example of the of the loser ungracefully bowing out of an argument. Pathetic.
